Green Building Tour & Presentation:Resilience Research Center
 | |

The Resilience Research Center will change a vacant school building on Madison's south side into a neighborhood support center with productive urban agriculture and a project-based charter middle school. It will serve as a multigenerational social hub for socializing, learning, training, research, and healthy, resilient living. Healthy food availability and urban agriculture are concerns prompted in part by a difficult economy and greater awareness of people's need for a reliable, afforable source of healthy, locally grown food.
The Resilience Research Center is an ambitious partnership that will test, demonstrate, and rigorously measure the solutions needed for vibrant, healthy and resilient cities. The Center is the first project of its kind in the nation and will incorporate the following:
- A LEED platinum certified building
- An intensive urban agriculture area that explores civic ecological systems
- A rich learning center, incorporating job training and middle school education
- A neighborhood center to build and strengthen bonds in an underserved neighborhood in Madison, Wisconsin
- A distinguished team of expert researchers, developing a comprehensive evaluation program to regularly measure progress on our stated objectives.
