May 18, Madison-area (Southwest Wisconsin) WGBA meeting, Tour the LEED-NC Platinum Holy Wisdom Monastery. 5:30 -7pm [social ½ hour followed by a tour of the building and grounds]. The deconstructed and rebuilt monastery has earned a stellar 63 out of a possible 69 points under LEED-New Construction (NC) version 2.2, making it the highest-rated LEED-NC building in the United States to date! The grounds have been managed under an ecosystem / habitat restoration plan for over a decade. Refreshments will be served. There is a suggested $5 donation to the Benedictine Women of Madison. Don is Vice President of Land Acquisition for Veridian and also President Elect of the Wisconsin Builders Association.  Gary is Vice President of Construction and Customer Relations at Veridian.  Don and Gary are going to give us their story about residential green building and design in Wisconsin.  They will discuss Veridian's role in the story thus far and answer many questions including "Why does Wisconsin only have 11 LEED certified Homes?" Don will also be able to discuss green residential building in the state from the perspective of President elect of the Wisconsin Builders Association.  Expand your knowledge base to include residential green building and design by joining us as Don and Gary share the inside scoop on what's happening from the buyer and builder's perspective!
