Tall Ships return to Duluth!!
Once again, the Tall Ships will sail in to the Duluth harbor this summer. Beginning Wednesday, July 28, Duluth's harbor will welcome eight grand Tall Ships, a fleet of international vessels racing to six cities in the U.S. and Canada. This is Lake Superior's only port of call for the Great Lakes United Tall Ships Challenge® 2010. The ships will remain in the harbor until August 3rd, when they sail off to their next port.
This event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to view, tour, and possibly even sail on these incredible vessels. Tickets have not yet gone on sale, but once they do, it is certain to sell out quickly. When news hit in 2008, our Inn sold out within 24 hours, so check your calendars now and get your room booked as soon as possible.
What is a Tall Ship you ask? A Tall Ship is a large traditionally rigged sailing vessel. Of the eight vessels that will be sailing in, one is the Amistad; the slave ship carrying captured slaves who revolted, seized the ship, and eventually regained their freedom! An incredible look back into history!
For more information on the ships, click on to our local convention bureau site, Visit Duluth. And call now or book online to reserve your room - don't wait too long! This is truly an incredible event to witness - historically and visually - in one of our nation's most beautiful port cities!! |
"Timber Twister" coming to Spirit Mountain!
Beginning July 1st, Spirit Mountain will be opening the new Timber Twister Alpine Coaster. This is the ONLY one in the Midwest and will be a year-round coaster! What is an Alpine Coaster? It is a unique combination of toboggan, roller coaster, and sled ride, complete with brakes. There will be 3200 sq. ft. of track and each cart is equipped with seat belts, front and rear bumpers, a rider-controlled braking system and can comfortably accommodate one or two riders. So Cool!!
This is an incredible addition for Spirit Mountain and the city of Duluth. You will experience incredible views - going up and coming down. Because it requires no foundation, the topsoil remains undisturbed; and no additional lifts are required minimizing the carbon footprint!
With this very fun new addition, Spirit Mountain is not just for skiing and snow! Watch for new packages on our website for this new attraction and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Duluth! |
Trip Advisor's #1 Bed and Breakfast in Minnesota and Duluth!
We are really excited and humbled to have recently reached what we consider to be an amazing milestone in the 2 1/2 years that we have been the lucky owners of the A G Thomson House.
Earlier this month, we reached 150 reviews on the nations leading and most respected travel review site, Trip Advisor. While it has only been a short time for us, it has been a process to rebuild, rejuvenate, and restore this beautiful home and it's reputation.
When we took over the A G Thomson House, it was one of the worst rated B&B's in Duluth! We deeply thank all of you who have taken the time to share your experience at our Inn - we are so very grateful to you all! We love Duluth and this incredible home, and we want to make sure our guests step through our doors and feel it! We are here because of you and we thank you so much! |
