Linda K. Joyce (LK 00) is Recipient of 2010 Alumni Leadership Award

Linda K. Joyce  (LK '00)
Linda Joyce
Over the past 14 years, the Leadership Kitsap Alumni Association (LKAA) has honored one of its own for distinguished servant leadership in the community. This year's recipient is Linda K. Joyce (LK 00), Executive Director of YWCA of Kitsap County. The award was given out at the class of 2010 graduation ceremony held June 22nd at Kiana Lodge. Accepting the award in Linda's absence was Sharon Fields, YWCA of Kitsap County Board president.

Linda's selection was based on her commitment to the community and generous contribution of time, talent and resources to various nonprofit organizations in Kitsap County. Linda K. Joyce has served as the Executive Director of the YWCA of Kitsap County since June, 1994. Under Linda's leadership, the YWCA of Kitsap County has celebrated major successes: a 3-phase renovation of the YWCA ALIVE Shelter and the relocation of the YWCA from a rented space into its own building, the YWCA Community Center, allowing increased visibility and accessibility. Also, several programs were implemented, increasing the YWCA's ability to provide a "safety net" for the over 6,000 community members who access services, annually.

Other acknowledgements that Linda has received in the community are the Women Helping Women Award by the Soroptomist International of Port Orchard, Keeper of the Dream Award have recognized Linda with a Distinguished Leadership Award in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and as a YWCA Woman of Achievement.

Linda is committed to helping others, especially victims of domestic violence in Kitsap County and increasing community awareness to create positive social change. She exemplifies what a "servant leader" is and enjoys a well-respected reputation in the community.
