Preparing For China National Day

Chinese National Day will be celebrated from September 30, 2012 through October 7, 2012. Historically, space is tight in the weeks leading up to the holiday and can continue into the weeks after as well. Liberty has gathered schedules for office hours from our forwarding partners, detailing Customs hours and recommended cut off dates and times for any shipment requiring departure before the holiday.

Seven Ocean offices and China Customs will be closed from September 30 to October 7, resuming work on October 8. Sailing schedules for the last vessel prior to the holiday and the first sailing after the holiday are listed below.

Narita advises that Hong Kong offices will observe the holiday from October 1 through October 3. The cut off for vessel service can be extended until Wednesday.   Ocean routing ex-Hong Kong will not be affected by this holiday.

Dimerco Express offices in Shanghai and Qingdao will be closed from September 30 to October 7, resuming work on October 8. Cut off prior to the holiday will be noon on September 29 for shipments ex-Shanghai and noon on September 28 for shipments ex-Qingdao. Bookings should be made no later than noon on September 27 (local time).

Airport Customs offices will also be closed during the holiday, however, it is expected that a skeleton crew will be on hand to process clearances. Customs is not advising their expected schedule at this time.

Liberty and its origin partners suggest all importers review their logistics programs carefully at this time. Target both air and ocean shipments that will be ready to ship over the next two weeks and arrange bookings with our office in advance to avoid delays at origin. Also, contact your vendors to confirm when they will be closing and plan a schedule to arrange pick up and deliveries prior to the holiday.

It is also suggested to review shipments that are scheduled to arrive at destination during Chinese National Day to ensure all documents required for Customs and carrier releases are in house before factories close for the holiday.

Please contact your Liberty Account Representative to discuss your booking needs and we will be happy to assist in sending message to origin.
