Carriers to Implement Surcharges Should Strike Occur

 

price increaseDue to the potential strike on the US East & Gulf coast ports, in addition to those already reported (Hyundai & Cosco), the following carriers have announced congestion surcharges will take effect should the East and Gulf coasts close due to the ILA contract expiration on September 30, 2012.

 

Maersk will implement the following surcharges for all shipments to / from the U.S. and Canada: $800/20', $1000/40', $1125/High Cube and $1266/45'.

 

NYK Line will implement the following surcharges for shipment to the U.S. from Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Australia: $1000/container.

 

Hanjin will implement the following surcharges for shipments to and from U.S. and Canada: $800/20', $1000 for other container sizes.

Hong Kong Carriers Announce Fuel Surcharge Increases

 

Cathay PacificEffective September 14, 2012, Cathay Pacific Airlines (CX) will implement an increase to their fuel surcharges. This increase will apply to all shipments ex-Hong Kong. Current fuel surcharges of $0.94/kilo will be billed at $1.04/kilo for all shipments departing on/after September 14.
