Carriers to Implement Surcharges Should Strike Occur
Due to the potential strike on the US East & Gulf coast ports, in addition to those already reported (Hyundai & Cosco), the following carriers have announced congestion surcharges will take effect should the East and Gulf coasts close due to the ILA contract expiration on September 30, 2012.
Maersk will implement the following surcharges for all shipments to / from the U.S. and Canada: $800/20', $1000/40', $1125/High Cube and $1266/45'.
NYK Line will implement the following surcharges for shipment to the U.S. from Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Australia: $1000/container.
Hanjin will implement the following surcharges for shipments to and from U.S. and Canada: $800/20', $1000 for other container sizes.
