Typhoon Kai-tak Update
Typhoon Kai-tak has shifted from its original tracked forecast and is expected to make landfall to the south and west of the original path. The brunt of the storm is expected to move over southern Hong Kong and west of Guangdong in Southern China. It is predicted to make landfall around 8 p.m. local time (8 a.m. EDT) today, August 16, just west of Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific Airways has advised that based on the latest weather forecast of typhoon Kai-tak that the Hong Kong International Airport has planned to operate flights as scheduled today, Thursday August 16. However, the Hong Kong International Airport also announced that flights may be subject to disruption between midnight tonight and Friday midday due to the adverse weather caused by typhoon Kai-tak.
