Memorial Day - Holiday Schedule
Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Originally known as Decoration Day, observances began after the American Civil War to commemorate fallen Union soldiers. Southern practices to decorate Confederate graves also occurred during the month of May, though each region typically had on its own date.
By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who died in all wars. As a marker, Memorial Day typically signifies the beginning of the summer vacation season.
In observance of this holiday, Liberty International will be closed on Monday, May 25. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26. |
