China CIQ - January 10 Update
- We are still awaiting confirmation of pricing list for testing charges at the China Customs' nominated Qingdao lab. On a preliminary basis, we've confirmed that the charges are based on the type of item being tested and the country to which the factory is exporting the goods. The commodity inspection fee is based on the HS code and the cargo's value. For imitation jewelry the charge is about 1.5% of invoice value ($10 USD minimum) along with additional handling charges.
- We have received a list of China HS codes to which the CIQ rule applies for both import and export cargo. Contact Danielle Conboy at dconboy@libertyint.com for a complete list. Items include table knives, fertilizer, base metal imitation jewelry (whether or not plated with precious metal), base metal cuff links and studs and all other base metal jewelry.
- We have updates on the status of several Qingdao and Shanghai/YiWu suppliers this morning.
- We've confirmed that the "CARTON CERTIFICATION" document that many of you have questioned will be provided by the packaging factory to the jewelry factory (after January 17). The packaging factory that manufactures the boxes will secure the inspection certificate and will provide it to the jewelry factory to be included in their submission for their inspection certificate.
- We will provide a second update shortly (after we receive today's update from the Commerce Department).
