If you genuinely have decided to take care of your body and become fit it is mandatory that you do it the right way. Here are 10 tips to become fit and sustain a healthy lifestyle the smart way.

1. Start Walking Then Jogging
Walking as well as jogging are both great ways to become fit. You can start with walking in your neighborhood, in the woods, on the beach or wherever you want for an hour three times per week, then gradually jogging in between. Walking and jogging has many benefits, such as making you less stressful, increasing your lung capability, strengthening your heart, toning your muscles, giving you a better and healthier look WARNING: Training is Highly Addictive!

2. Go to a Gym/Fitness Center or hire a Personal Trainer
Going regularly to a gym or getting a membership in a fitness center makes it easier to stay motivated when working out. In most cases beginners are not comfortable working out in front of others. That is why Personal Trainers, like myself are here to stay. This ensures you still get to do your training, with more comfort and it's usually done on a 1 on 1 basis with the trainer. In addition with a personal trainer you have more customizable personal training programs designed specifically for you to achieve your fitness goals. You will work out with modern and up-to-date training methods and equipment.

3. Do Resistance Training
It is wise to add resistance to your exercise routine, for example with rubber bands or similar devices made particularly to work with your isometrics. This way, your workout will be more effective and yield better results.

4. Develop Tight Muscles
Aerobic exercises like walking and jogging are great and necessary when you want to become fit. It is also important to develop your lean muscle, which can be done with weight training. This will not only develop your muscles and build a great shaped body but also balance out your workout routine, thus making your fitness better rounded.

5. Do Abdominal Crunches
Heard about six-pack abs? It's ideal for many, but even if this is not your goal you can start some exercises to get your abs in a better shape. Ab crunches are the simple and are the most common way to develop ab muscle. You don't need any equipment and you can do it wherever you are. If you didn't already know it, here is what you do:
- lay down with the back on the floor with bended knees
- keep your feet flat on the floor
- cross your hands across your chest
- curl your torso, rolling from your sternum toward your hips
You should start up slowly with 10 crunches with 3 repetitions. Put another way; do ten ab crunches, then wait a minute and do 10 more, wait another minute, and do the final 10 crunches. After a while, increase both the number of sets as well as repetitions slowly.

6. Do Squats
Squats are another simple way to do exercise with splendid results for your calves, glutes, quads and hamstrings. Here's what you do:
- stand with your feet spread apart about two feet
- bend your knees a little
- start squatting toward the floor very smoothly without going all the way down.
This is a hard exercise because it involves large muscle groups (such as your thigh muscles) so start slowly with few reps and gradually increase speed and reps. Why not utilize free time to do squats? For example, every half hour no matter what you are doing. You can do it anywhere and after a while you will start to experience the benefits of this maybe most effective exercise I know.

7. Do Triceps Press
Your arm muscles especially your triceps have to be developed too, and this is perhaps the part of strength training most people are focusing on. Maybe it's because the result of this training is so visible.
Here is what you do: Use weights with this exercise. Start with one pound and increase gradually to five pounds. If you don't have weights make yourself weights by filling small stones or whatever you want in bags, weigh them and label each bag according to their weight
- stand on the floor with your feet two feet apart
- bend your knees slightly
- lift your arms and extend them over your head
- lock your elbows
- lower your hands behind your head very slowly.

8. Eat More Protein, but balance your meals
People who are exercising need more protein than people who don't. The common recommendations are:
- protein: 20%-25%
- carbohydrates: 50%-60%
- fat: 20% or less

9. Before You Start, Set Your Goals
It's important that you set several short termed, reachable and realistic goals instead of one unrealistic and long-termed. The best is to have both short term and long term goals. Break your long term goal in partial goals of four weeks each. Then you will see the results of your training often enough to keep you motivated.

10. Track Your Progress
As you have already seen above, it is meaningless to work toward a goal without tracking your progress. There are lots of things you can measure, such as your weight, your calorie loss, your muscle size, your waist line, your body's fat percentage etc. etc. There are three areas you should track:
- Your measures already mentioned above. Figure out which measures are important and measurable for you
- Your routines. You need to find out if your routines give the results you want and adjust them if not.
- The most important measure and the least measurable in tangible terms is how you feel; ask yourself: "Am I feeling better, the same or worse?"

I can virtually guarantee you that if you consistently follow these tips; you'll be amazed of how much better you feel just after a few weeks.

When you feel like you are ready to take it up a notch, contact me to get the sculpted body you really want. I GUARANTEE MY RESULTS and can be reached at 954.765.6557. There is no time like the present, so stop putting off the training you know you want and need. Just think how good you are going to feel.

Authoring Our Story
Bettie Spruill
By Bettie Spruill (Master Trainer)

Every day we tell ourselves stories about ourselves- health, intelligence, capacity to love or not, success or failure, as well as living and dying. The stories we tell ourselves fill a library: I feel unappreciated and taken for granted. This is just too hard. I've lost my passion for what I am doing. I am overwhelmed. I am afraid.

Every day, we tell ourselves enough of these kinds of stories to fill a library: Why my supervisor closed her door today. Why the client rejected my proposal. What my associate meant when he laughed at my question. Why everyone is being so difficult. How I'm such a failure.

We live our lives as if the stories are true. We act and react, often in pain, from our often mistaken understanding of another's words or actions, our assumptions about why they are saying or doing what they are, and our thoughts about how those people-and we, ourselves-should be different.

There are stories that work, and there are stories that don't work for living a life of meaning, contribution and accomplishment. Stories, like worldviews impose meaning and give context to our sensory experiences. Facts are meaningless until you create a story around them. We give meaning to the facts and forget the fact. You may remember Dragnet, a detective story that appeared on television in the 60's. Jack Friday, the main character, when interrogating people would say, "just the facts sir, just facts".

For example, not having the money you need right now to pay all your bills is a fact but the meaning or significance you give to not having enough money is the theme of your story - for example, "I am not worthwhile", "there is never enough", "I am a failure". Our story becomes the creation of our reality. In fact our story matters more than the truth about who we are - I am whole, perfect and complete, and I do not have enough money to pay all my bills today - is the truth. That is the only truth!

Yet, it is these stories, and the emotions that come from the stories, that are usually the source of the pain and/or discomfort we feel in our relationships, whether at work or at home. We want to blame another or ourselves, but in reality, it's usually our thinking that is causing the discomfort, says Byron Katie, author of the best-selling book Loving What Is.

What we need to do to ease the pain and experience more freedom in our lives is learn to get beyond our stories, to get under our beliefs and assumptions to what's really living there. We need to investigate and examine these stories.

The result of investigation is often a deeper appreciation of an Authentic Self and the people in our lives, and a realization that it was not our words or actions that really harm us, but our uninvestigated thoughts about their words or actions.

In her book, Katie outlines a simple path of inquiry into some of  the these horror stories we tell ourselves that revolves around four questions:
 1. Is it true?
2. Can you absolutely know that it's true?
3. How do you react when you think that thought?
4. Who would you be without the thought?

Doing the Investigative Work
First, state your belief about yourself or someone else and ask yourself if it is true and whether you can know absolutely, without a doubt, that it is true.

The next question is: How do I act and react when I thinks these thoughts? Do I find myself angry and resentful? Do I judge and attack with my thoughts?

Imagine that you don't have this story any more. Who would you be?

Perhaps you would be more peaceful in your life and more resourceful and enthusiastic about the life you are living.. Perhaps you would be less concerned about what you don't have and more intent on contributing in unique ways to the work at hand. Perhaps your overall mood of gratitude would be a magnet for more unlimited abundance in life.

The Turnaround
The final step in this investigation is for you is to turn around the statements you've been making. Do you express criticism in other areas of her life in ways that are harsh and hard to hear? Do you try to control others in your life? Are you critical and demanding of yourself? Our "stories" often point to our own traits that we project onto others so as to disclaim them.

It's important to note that with inquiries like this, there is no right answer. The goal is not perfection, but truth.

"Who would you be without your story?" Katie says. "You never know until you inquire. There is no story that is you or that leads to you. Every story leads away from you."

A story is our creation of a reality that is not the truth. You might be wondering if there is any difference between a story and the truth. I am saying yes, and what's so amazing is that we enjoy the privilege of being the author of our stories and the people who play different roles in our movies, play, songs and novels.

What story are you authoring right now as you read this story?

We are authoring a new and yet old story about sacred commerce and awakening. We create our business experience through our worldviews which includes our way of thinking, language and practices. We believe that because we sacred beings, so is our business. A friend of mine, often reminds me that wherever you slice into a carrot cake you will always touch a piece of carrot. Wherever you slice into you life, you will always touch a story, and that story is sacred.

Everyone is writing a story and here at YESS so are we, and welcome the opportunity to contribute to you as you write.

It Could Happen To You
Catherine ScalisiBy Catherine Scalisi - FL145

People spend their life rushing around, always searching for a way to get by, a way to make "it" happen.  We are all searching for something that is good and pure, something that makes sense in our personal journey.  There has to be a better way to get through this life than the traditional plan.  You see, my family became casualties of the "traditional plan".  You know the one our parents taught us:  go to school, get a good education so you can get a "good job" with a good company -- be the best employee you can possibly be and the company will take care of you.  Not knowing any differently, we did just that; however, our venture in Corporate America ended much differently than expected.

After 22 years of climbing the corporate ladder with dedication, loyalty, and integrity, my husband was positioned to be the next president of his company, a division of the one of the largest steel companies in the world.  Five months after being advised of his upcoming position, he -- as well as all top managerial people -- were let go due to a leverage buyout.  We went from a six-figure income to unemployment overnight.  He remained unemployed for one year.  We spent that year liquidating and or losing what Corporate America had allowed us to attain.  At the end of the year, my husband got his job back, but it was too late for us.  The irreparable damage had already been done, but a valuable lesson had been learned:  We needed to take control of our own financial destiny.  Job security just does not exist!

Sounds pretty common place given the current economic conditions, doesn't it?  Well, this actually happened to us back in 1994!!  In today's economy, things are even worse.  Adversity, mostly financial, is in the air these days.  People are dealing with unemployment, dwindling 401(k)s, giving up retirement plans, kids moving back home out of financial necessity - or parents who lost their jobs or retirement income moving in with the kids.  When facing financial adversity in our present day economy, it is very obvious that it is not only a time to do things differently, but a time to do different things.  What used to be, just isn't anymore.  The days of landing the cushioney corporate job or establishing lifetime employment are long gone.  But isn't this perfect?  Is there not a silver lining here?  When we listen to the news and look at what's happening in the world, we might ask "where's the silver lining in all this?"  Even as our economic, political and ecological systems are dying, we are birthing a more balanced and sustainable world.  Birth is by nature messy and painful, but also wonderful and miraculous.

It was the devastation brought upon us by Corporate America that had us choose to create something different in our lives.  We knew if we continued to do what we had always done our results would always be the same.  If we relied upon traditional employment for our financial future, we knew that we risked having Corporate America turn our world upside down again.  Entrepreneurism has always brought this country out of recessionary times.  Knowing that, we established our own business in 1995.  We were able to rebuild our six-figure income through the fundamental concept of personal interaction, teamwork, and building relationships and trust with the end consumer -- something that will never be replaced.  When you have the ability to bring people exactly what they want and need, with the hottest technological advancements -- that's how to create your own economy.  With an opportunity, a plan, technology and support, we empower ordinary people to become extraordinary entrepreneurs.

So, ask yourself three simple questions:  (1) Am I happy with my current financial situation?  (2)  Do I have enough free time to spend with my family and do the things I enjoy?  (3)  Am I prepared for retirement?

If you answered "No" to all or any of the above, I may be able to support you in your quest to have those answers be different.  You can contact me at CatherineScalisi@msn.com or via phone, 845-656-7866.  I'll explain how we get to play black/black, win/win.

Also, if you're affiliated with a Non-Profit Organization (501(c)3 only), we can bring substantial revenue to support their cause and funding.  This is huge.  We get to impact thousands of lives by keeping visions and missions flourishing.

In these dark times, remember that only when it is dark enough can we see the stars!
A Vision For Todays Family
Dr Stephanie May
 By Dr Stephanie May FL143

The idea of "today's family" has transformed many times over in the last several decades. It is hard to believe that just 50 years ago, most families involved 2 biological parents and 2.2 children. However, today, in 2010 our homes are often comprised of mixed cultures, blended families, and diverse interests. Our lives seem anything but simple. Everyone is going in different directions at different times. And so, in this hectic time where people would rather text message than talk, I would love to inspire you and your family to connect.

The message is simple: Learn about yourselves and each other! Learn like you are mastering something. And even better, Learn Proactively! This is what creates connection. So many times, parents turn for help once a problem has already occurred; and while there are effective solutions to assist a family in this place, I ask you now...Why wait until then??? Do you really want to live your life being in reaction to this problem or that surprise? Or do you want to take active steps to be as healthy and happy as possible?

Below you will find some key suggestions in creating connection in your family and learning more about yourselves and each other:

-Sit down and write a clear vision statement for your family. For example, "Our family is joyful, fun, and full of love and gratitude." You may have noticed that this statement was written as if it is already happening. It is believed that our thoughts become things and this is just one of the reasons to write it this way. Even if it is not true today, focus on it being reality, so say it as if it is. I suggest you sit down and write your families vision statement together and then put it on your refrigerator for all to see.

-Create a Family Contract which outlines agreements between all family members as to how they interact with one another and what each persons responsibilities are. Some possibilities include: No name calling during an argument, call if you are running late, "Suzie" takes out the garbage on Tuesdays, and check in with each other before making individual plans. It is critical that this is developed with input from all family members who are then in acceptance of the final contract when it is complete. Just like the vision statement, this should also be posted in a visible locale.

-Enroll in personal development opportunities. There are a multitude of workshops, trainings, and courses for the adults, teens, and kids. No one gave you a manual on being a parent for example, so this is the perfect thing to seek growth about proactively. Additionally, the more you develop yourself as an individual, the better you will be as a parent.

-Ask each family member about the highlight and low point of their day and listen with your full attention when they respond. Be aware of what differences you create when you are truly fully present with them versus when you are distracted. You will see that there is a significant difference in how people respond around you when you are focused, aware, and in the moment. Let this be a skill you commit to practicing frequently.

-Sit down together. This may be over breakfast or dinner, or to play a game or do homework. Nevertheless, let this time be focused and dedicated to what activity you have chosen. Turn cell phones, television, and even computers off. Yes that includes Mom and Dad too.

-And lastly, simple tips to remember-
      At least:
-Five personal contacts per day (hug, touch, text, compliment, etc..)
-Four 15 min periods of uninterrupted time per week
-One date night weekly for the Parents

Cleaning Out Your Pantry
Staci Smith
 By Staci Smith FL142

Manufacturers are all too aware that children are compulsively drawn to Technicolor food and those that are sweet or salty. If you watch a children's show for a few minutes you will see how kids are bombarded with commercials for junk food and sugar filled cereals.  Since getting kids to eat well is an exercise in triage as you figure the pros and cons of cost, time, and availability you might be tempted to take the path of least resistance: chicken nuggets, flame colored mac 'n' cheese, blue yogurt.   I am well aware of the time involved in preparing meals and lunches at home instead of grabbing pre packaged or fast foods, but I promise you in the long run it is well worth the time and effort.  There is nothing wrong with having a few slices of pizza once in a while (try to include a salad!) or a cupcake at a birthday party.  The problem is when this becomes the norm.  I have put together a list of things to avoid when reading labels and stocking your pantry.  I will also include alternatives to some of the more common "kids food" items that can easily be switched out for healthy alternatives.  Empowering children to make good choices will also support them with feeling confident in life.  I have found that with my children what has worked is explaining why we eat the way we eat and teaching them the risks of eating some of the very tempting treats they occasionally ask for at the grocery store.

When stocking a pantry it is crucial to read labels since "pantry" items are typically dry goods that are not fresh picked out of the ground(therefore they have a label).     Items you NEVER want to consume:   corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, sucralose(fake sugar),nutrisweet (also fake sugar), bleached flour, FD&C blues #1 and 2; green #3; and yellow #5 and 6, and anything you can't pronounce!
Items that are ok in moderation:  raw sugar or cane sugar, unbleached flour (try to choose wholegrain when possible), brown rice syrup, and fruit juice sweeteners.
*Choose enriched and whole grain pasta
*Choose natural peanut butter (most brands now have a natural choice) my favorite is earth balance brand.
*Choose fresh fruit and veggies over canned or frozen.  Frozen fruit is a good choice for making smoothies only!
*Choose whole grain or sprouted breads over white breads.
*Choose rice milk or almond milk over cow milk. If you must buy real milk, choose organic ALWAYS.
This goes for ALL dairy products....always choose organic.
*If you eat animal protein it is especially important for children's developing bodies to have organic or meats that are free of hormone and antibiotic treatment.  Organic  meat can be a little more expensive so a good choice is "greenwise" brand meats at publix.  I recommend trying to include vegetarian meals 2x a week to cut food costs and (in my opinion) improve overall health.
*Choose wild fish over farm raised.
*Hide things like squash puree in mac n cheese (organic) to add some nutrients.
*Make fresh home-made oatmeal instead of instant and add some fruit to it!
*Almost all of the more common kids snacks (graham cracker sticks, wheat thins, ritz crackers, cheeze-its) can all be purchased without all the "bad" ingredients listed above. My favorite brand is  "Back to Nature".
*My last recommendation is PLEASE make home made meals  instead of eating out.  This may mean thinking ahead and preparing a few meals for the week, on Sunday.    I have worked with many busy families to teach them how it is possible to have healthy home- made dinners (left overs for lunch) every night of the week!  If you would like to schedule a class, I am happy to work with your family.  I also work with  children to help them understand the importance of healthy choices.

Please visit my site for more info or cantact me at stacismith7@yahoo.com to set up a class or email any questions you have!  If you have children, I have a great how to video on my site about packing a healthy lunch box...  http://nutritiousfamily.com/Recipes/FeaturedRecipes/tabid/255/Default.aspx

It's Cookout and Beach Party Season
Richard RogersBy Mr Richard FL131

When Planning a Summer Cookout or Beach Party here are some helpful Tips

Location: Inside versus Outside

Outside Cookout
Location: The Beach is always a great place to invite family and friends to enjoy some fun in the sun.  There are endless opportunities for all ages.  Public beaches as well as State Parks offer an abundance of things to do, see and experience.

Menu: Food served can be as simple of a variety of sandwiches, chips, dips and lots of fresh fruit.  Depending on your budget and time you want to spend, you can buy ingredients and make food yourself, or you can go to Panera Bread and order a Lunch Box or to Publix and order subs.    To make the most of your day, be Certain to remember to bring a radio, umbrella and create some games for people to play.

Will you have kids there? A great way to entertain the kids is the dollar store to pick up a bunch of shovels and pails for the kids to create sand castles.  Don't forget all kinds of water toys.

Inside Cookout
Location: Any place that is cool and comfortable.  If you love to entertain, use your home.  Sometimes a friend's home can be more fun.  For that matter, any place that in which you can entertain comfortably.

Menu: Ribs are always a favorite.  The best way to ensure your ribs are sweet and tender is to take your sliced ribs and favorite barbeque sauce wrapped them in plastic wrap.  After they're wrapped, place them in your oven on a cookie sheet.   Slow cook for 2 hours and place them on a grill or on high broil until they get black and crispy.  Be certain to watch them carefully so not to burn.

Decoration:  A quick trip to the dollar store and pick up a couple of colorful containers.  Fill them with your favorite summer flower and place around your home.  Home Depot sells a variety of summer flowers for under a dollar - splurge and make your space colorful!
