Creating Extraordinary Lives By Design
Developing a Healthy Relationship with Food
Dr Stephanie May
 By Dr Stephanie May FL143

Did you know that food has become one of the most powerful addictions in America today? And even if it is not an "addiction" for you, more people than ever before are: overeating, under eating, dieting, emotional eating, purging, pill popping, obsessing, over exercising, and getting sick as a result of their relationship with food.

In fact it is estimated that 75% of women report disordered eating of some kind (Bulik & Jordan, 2008) and that at least one million men have sought professional help for this as well. We all know that childhood obesity has skyrocketed and that heart disease is one of the leading causes of death. Health risks beyond this are just too numerous to mention here.

But it is no wonder Americans are struggling so much with how they use food, because for most of us, food has been the center of so many things. Food has been present for joyous times, sad times, stressful times, and momentous times. When you think back, you may realize that food has been present for just about everything! And while there are many benefits to having this experience- like the opportunity of living in an abundant nation- the danger is that food has become strongly attached to your emotions. And when your emotions are high, the chances of misusing or abusing food goes up dramatically.

To have a healthy relationship with food means that you are able to eat for the reasons of physiological rather than emotional hunger and to stop eating at a point when the body and mind are truly satisfied. In order to do this though, you must be tuned in to the difference between these sensations, and truthfully- most people don't slow down long enough to tell. It can be surprising and sometimes frightening for people to get real about what they are really hungry for- but this is the key to developing a healthy relationship with food. In the beginning, I often ask my clients to journal about what they are feeling before eating, during eating, and after, as this will begin the process of connecting what it is that they really want in their lives instead of food.

What many people find throughout this process is that they are using food to cover up their emotions. They may have never learned how to handle their emotions effectively, and the use (or misuse) of food became their one and only coping tool.  But most human being don't just want to stuff themselves or starve themselves- what we want is human contact, love, acceptance, and understanding. Sadly, these basic human needs can become really complicated for people- where love may not feel safe, anger feels unacceptable, or acceptance- a distant desire. Therapy, or some other form of personal development, can be especially useful for this aspect of healing.

People who have a healthy relationship with food and with themselves:

-eat mindfully and moderately
-listen to what their body needs and then honor it
-often spend quality time with themselves and others
-make a point to sit quietly and think honestly about the events in their life
-reflect on how they are doing and ask trusted friends for their feedback too
-practice healthy and empowering conversations in their minds
-participate in personal development to learn a variety of coping tools

What people really get to know is that they are capable of living fully and yes, there are many tools to handle the challenges of life besides food. Make a commitment to slow yourself down and get real about what it is that you are really hungry for.

Living Your Ideal Life In A World Of Accelerating Change & Danger
Bettie Spruill
By Bettie Spruill (Masters Trainer)
There is only YOUR word.

Living an ideal life takes discipline and rigor. Discipline means to train or develop by instruction and exercise, especially in self-control. Rigor is doing something while applying precise and exacting standards.

These words, discipline and rigor, are not usually welcomed in a world of quickness and entitlement. In fact, discipline and rigor appear more like sacrifice; giving up something wonderful in order to get what you truly want. With this understanding of discipline and rigor, you seek but never find, leaving you exhausted, frustrated and in a constant state of dissatisfaction and fear.

Here is both the bad and good news. In order to live YOUR ideal life, it will require that you sacrifice something. You will have to sacrifice your need to keep the twins, resignation and cynicism (of which you have been blinded), as guardians to the entrance way of your heart, mind and spirit. These silent twins stand guard to the doorway of health, wealth, love and freedom, and are the biggest blocks to creating and living an ideal life.

If left undetected, hypertension and diabetes will destroy your vital organs; the twins resignation and cynicism, if left undetected, will destroy all your future possibilities and you will not know what happened. High blood pressure and diabetes are called silent killers of the body. Resignation and cynicism are silent killers of dreams, passions and success, and of course, your spirit.

Resignation and cynicism are fundamentally saying, "That's just the way it is and there is no way out." When we believe that things are just the way they are, we assume a position of helplessness and experience a loss of power and freedom. In other words, you are a victim of the conditions and circumstances of life at an ontological, as well as an experiential level.

These are some of the cost of loss of power and freedom:

·  Over the last three decades violence, depression, and suicide have risen to epidemic levels. There are 30,000 suicides each year in the United States with ten to twenty times that many attempting suicide. There are three successful suicides for every two murders committed.

·   We are killing ourselves. Toxic pollution of the environment and water is spreading. Widespread pollution of the earth's available drinking water is now the major cause of death worldwide.

·  The ozone holes over the Polar Regions are still increasing in size while the overall ozone layer surrounding the earth is thinning out leading to an increase in potentially destructive ultraviolet light reaching the earth's surface.

·  30,000 children die each day due to poverty. According to UNICEF, "They die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death."

·  We juggle and judge work and child care, clogged transportation systems, collapsing bridges, high health care cost and lost of trust in our political and business leaders.

· It is not uncommon for governments touting themselves as democratic to abuse freedom and deny basic liberties.

What does all of this have to do with you and your capacity to design and live your ideal life? What, if anything, do these conditions have to do with you, your families, jobs and communities? What does it all mean?

It means that unless you re-identify yourself in this world of accelerating change, danger and complexity, your ideal life will be nothing more than a wish, leading to more dissatisfaction and those twins, resignation and cynicism, growing in stature and power.

The conditions of the world, if not held in a context of conscious evolution in which you are an active co-creator, will leave you disempowered and in despair.

There are other possibilities.

The first step to living your ideal life is to be fully present to where and how you are resigned or cynical. It is not always easy or fun to come to grips with our own participation in the areas of our life that are not ideal. For the most part, we convince ourselves and others that we are making sincere and honest efforts; that we are doing our best. There is a sense that while things are not great, they will be some day, when "X" happens...

When I have more money, then I will be...
When I become famous, then I will be...
When I find the right person, then I will be...
When I am thinner, then I will be...
When I have the right employees, then I will be...
When I have the right piece of technology, then I will be...
When the world is a better, safer place, then I will be...

In any area of your life where you experience this subtle kind of resignation and cynicism, you have no power to create and live an ideal life. No matter how hard you work or how busy you are, success is not available to you.

When you become aware of yourself as an impartial observer of your experience, you are less at affect of your experience. Your experience is comprised of your thoughts, feelings, emotions, attitudes, sensations in your body, etc. You can then identify yourself as the "Experiencer" experiencing what is occurring rather than being the experience itself.

Identifying yourself as the "Experiencer", impartially observing your thoughts, feelings, emotions, attitudes and bodily sensations, will lead you to a clearing of Being in which you are free to experience deeper levels of your essential nature. Perhaps this is what is meant in the Holy Bible, Mathew 6 :33, when we are told to "seek ye first the kingdom, and all will be added unto you."

It is in this clearing, where you have complete freedom to rest fully in the NOW, that you begin to relate to your word as yourself. You then have power to intervene in the twins of resignation and cynicism with just the authentic speaking of your voice.

Before we go any further, let's explore "these twins" ontologically, and point out the red flags that will let you know if you are either resigned or cynical in a particular area of your life. Some red flags to trigger your awareness of resignation and cynical conversations are:

·               Explaining, defending or justifying
·               Shifting responsibility
·               Blaming or wanting credit
·               Stepping over things
·               Withdrawing emotionally
·               Not saying anything when it's time to say something
·               Feeling bad about the way it is

In order to develop the practice of being present we need sincere, honest reflection; we need a process of uncompromising self-assessment and self-confrontation. Keep a journal for a month and write down when you notice thoughts and feelings of helplessness, hurt, resentment or anger that accompany these red flags. At the end of the month, acknowledge yourself for keeping your promise to yourself to be present. Even when you remember that you were not present, you are present in that moment of now.

Remember practicing is not about getting it right. Practicing is a matter of doing it over and over again until you no longer need to consciously think about what your are doing. It has become embodied or a new habit.

Train yourself in self-control and apply precise and exacting standards in living your ideal life. By living this way, you create a relationship with yourself and your word where there is a clearing for you to distinguish who you are as the author and master of your life. You then can have a relationship with circumstances and conditions, whether social, global or personal, in which you have some say. You are then a master, transforming yourself and life.

One of the greatest contributions you can make to the world is to grow in self-awareness and self-realization, which will give you the power to manifest your own heartfelt dreams and desires. Then you can assist others to do the same.

Practicing discipline and rigor does mean sacrificing something you perceive as valuable or important. Are you willing to give up your less than ideal life for something else, without knowing the specific outcomes? Do not pass over this question lightly; your answer will determine how you go about living your ideal life.
Regardless of how you choose to engage with this inquiry, what is most important for you to remember about you is that you are whole, perfect and complete, and that you have say so about your life and it's design. Answer these questions as you reflect on your life and the possibilities of authoring an extraordinary, rich and meaningful life.

May the blessings of God be upon you May his peace abide within you May her presence illuminate your heart Now and forever

KeepYour Internet Email Safe
Brian HainesBy Brian Haines FL61

More and more people are having their Facebook, or Email account hacked recently. I use a few weak passwords myself, but I know many people who use pathetically weak passwords and I think it is well past time to strongly encourage everyone to strengthen their passwords.

"Why," you say, "would anyone want to get into my email?" Well, its not for the latest political rant, the reward for helping a Nigerian Man collect his family fortune or a new place to buy pharmaceuticals. Access to your email means access to your personal information, gives a spammer the ability to send spam to all of your contacts, and often people store personal passwords for banking or other personal information in their email and or contacts.

Many Facebook accounts are hacked via email accounts. Imagine all the sites you have passwords for that can be reset by verifying your email address. Now, imagine someone else had access to your email account. Yeah! I am worried too.
I think we have often thought that using strong passwords was for banking, but email is probably even more important because of the wide range of personal information that can be stolen with this one password. I think it is well past time that we use strong passwords for all of our accounts. And have different passwords for every account. I know it might be less convenient, but how inconvenient would it be to have your personal identity stolen?

The making of a strong password.
A strong password should meet ALL of the following criteria:

·         It should not a word in the dictionary
·         Not include dictionary words
·         Be no less than 8 characters (longer the better)
·         Use both letters and numbers
·         Use both lowercase and uppercase letters
·         Use one or more special characters (e.g. %, $, @, etc...)

Here is an article from Microsoft  that I think is pretty comprehensive and includes a link to a password strength checker.

Keep in mind that the strength checker does not check for the use of dictionary words, or common misspellings which are a no-no for strong passwords. Even replacement numbers instead of letters as in "pa55w0rd" are not secure, but will register as BEST on the Microsoft strength meter. So use the good advice provided in the article and the strength meter together.

Please don't wait for one of your accounts to get hacked before you begin. And keep your computer secure always by regularly scanning for viruses and spyware.

Is There A Shift Occuring?
Staci Smith
 By Staci Smith FL142

Being a Holistic practitioner and living the life I live, I am surrounded by people, places, food, activities, etc.  all supporting my way of life.  I have clients coming to me for a change, I have friends reaching out for advice on how to care for their families, when I eat out, I know where to go to find a nutritious meal.  So, there are many days and weeks that go by where I feel that there is a huge shift occurring.  People really care what they are doing to and putting into their bodies.  My Holistic community is making a difference and people are open to it.

Then there are days, like today, when I go to my daughters elementary school and see what their peers are eating for lunch.  Or I drive past a fast food joint ( I refuse to call it a restaurant) and at 5pm the line at the drive through is a mile long.  Really???  That brings tears to my eyes.  Chocolate cookies with cream filling, chips, French fries, purple and pink juice, neon blue gummy "fruit" chews.  This is supposed to fuel us for our day??    If the kids are eating like this, the parents most likely are as well.  It's no wonder kids are off the walls and acting out at school.  Most are not able to focus or sit still for more than three minutes at a time, because they are so pumped full of sugar and additives.  As much as I love that there is a shift (even if it is small) happening, I cannot ignore the fact that there is still a very large percentage of the population that needs to be shaken up a bit.  We need to be reading labels and questioning what we are putting in our mouths and feeding our children.

Please support my fight!  If you have concern and want to learn more about reading labels, contact staci.    I will be putting together classes very soon.  If you already know how to read labels and what to avoid, reach out to someone today and teach them how.  Statistics are saying that our children are the 1st generation of children that WILL NOT outlive their parents.   I will repeat..... WILL NOT outlive their parents.   That is disturbing.  It is time for a change.

Stay tuned for more from Nutritious Family.  Call me if you would like to put together and host a class for your friends and family.   Also available from Nutritious Family is an 8 week coaching program that will literally change your life.

Connection + Relationship = $$$$$$ = Summit Education Alumni Network!
Mark HarrisonBy Mark Harrison FL130

What? You say. A conversation about money inside the Summit Education hallways... Yes...money and career advancement.

How many of us attended our Discovery Workshop (Basic), Breakthrough Workshop (Advanced) and then went into and completed our LP and never had the "ASK"? What do you do anyway? What is it that you do? I am not sure what it is that you do?

We were not in a "doing" conversation since we were quite wrapped up in our new "being" conversation. I hear it over and over again. So guess what? Summit Education graduates get to have a new experience...Alumni Networking.

Many of us out in the professional arena are members of Chambers, Professional Networks, Business Clubs or Associations or even Social Associations that may include some business networking. I happen to be a member of Business Network International or BNI which is a professional business networking association. Most of us in one of these organizations or even multiple business organizations are  looking to grow our business's or make business connections to grow that business. Often these associations are challenged with effectively creating a climate to connect and build on the relationships that equal the $$$ conversations. I describe the sensation as business from the neck up. It can be a challenge.

How about this? Growing your business from the heart up! Heartfelt connecting, Heartfelt relationships equaling $$$.

Thus I give you Summit Education Alumni Networking and growing your business from the heart up. We have been working and developing the S.E.A.N. Association for the past couple of months now and it is just about there. You can find the get connected area under Alumni Registration. There you want to update your email, address, business name, occupation or Industry etc...

We are meeting on Wednesday's weekly to develop the Alumni Association, as a sub-committee of the Summit Graduate Leadership Team . We are looking for committed graduates who are looking to take their businesses and/or careers to the next level, to come together, collaborate, share ideas and put the finishing touches on S.E.A.N. Association so we can roll out to everyone.  Because it is about "you" post LP. Whether it is to build your business or support you in an ongoing way this is your long awaited Summit Education Alumni Network. It's about Networking not Netsitting!

We are building out the Alumni database by industry and looking to create connection for you the Alumni... If you don't sign in and update your information we won't know that you are out there looking for business, looking for other professionals, to find talent, change your business or to just network with other Alumni. What would it be like to add $$$ to your book of business? Connect to your Golden Goose target business partners? Find a job or change careers? Do business with a graduate that you lost contact with?

Hope & Opportunity - Creating Abunance
Curtis SmithBy Curtis Smith FL142

With unemployment approaching 10% and over 15 million Americans jobless, hope and opportunity seem few and far between.  In times of recessions, companies and businesses learn how to become lean and stay profitable.  A global economy has created rising cost and rising overhead.  To combat this dilemma, companies have cut jobs and moved towards corporate downsizing as a solution.  The jobs that companies get rid of do not remove the tasks.  Tasks are combined and employees are asked to carry the extra burden.  Safe to say, once those jobs are taken, they are not coming back.

But this is actually the best of times to create opportunity and take back control of our economy.  What brings an economy out of a recession is entrepreneurship.   Microsoft was started during a recession.  The tech / Dot Com boom exploded and created a shift at the tail end of the '80's recession.   A new industry of wealth and abundance was upon us.

In the book, THE CASHFLOW QUADRANT, one of my favorite authors Robert Kiyosaki states:  "Multiple streams of income is the #1 wealth principle to creating financial freedom.  To achieve fiscal independence, one must learn to leverage and have several sources of income outside of the normal 9-5."

One of my lifelong dreams was to have my own company.  After completing FL 142 and staffing for FL 149, I started my own company on Dec 20th 2007.  Since then, I've learned there are three major traits that have supported me in being a successful business owner.  In my opinion, Perseverance/ Trust and most importantly Vision are the tools that I take on my journey to abundance.  In looking back in time I can understand how powerful it is to just persevere.  I mean, when I 1st met my wife, I had to ask her out three times before she would give me the time of day.  Now, my goal in going after something I declared is to be told "no" 50 times.  Learning to just hang in there and accept growth was my 1st breakthrough.  Trusting in me was what had me really learn to ask for help and reach out to others.   But it all comes back to vision.  I used to look for courage like it was somewhere on a map.  Vision is the context for courage to grow.

My vision is to create abundance.  It really is quite clear to me.  I believe we all want the same things in life.  Raise and provide for our families.   Enjoy our short time on this planet, and leave a legacy.  If we share these common goals, we should share in the pursuit.  As much as society and technology can sometimes create separation, our #1 asset as a society is still our power in sharing.  Six degrees of separation is still our strongest network.  Nothing is more powerful than like minds with a common goal.

I truly believe it is time to reach out to each other.  I'm ready.  A healthy, wealth conversation is in order.  If you're ready and open to new opportunities, give me a call.  Curtis Smith 561-350-0820
