Call for Participants - National Music Day 21/6/12
The date for Ireland's national music day, Thursday, 21 June, was chosen to coincide with the International Music Day/Fete de la Musique, which is celebrated worldwide.
Ireland's national music day, love:live music, which is run by Music Network and is now in its third year, was launched by three musicians, Cora Venus Lunny, Seán MacErlaine and Francesco Turrisi in Dublin last Wednesday. They are urging other professional musicians and music organisations, as well as amateur musicians around the country to occupy a stage and create a free music experience to capture the imagination and showcase Ireland's diverse music talent.
The day is expected to feature a large number of musical performances across the whole country - last year's love:live music saw over 160 individual events take place across twenty-four counties.
Jody Ackland, Project Manager for the event, said, 'Ireland is known throughout the world for its incredible musicians and unrivalled musical talent and we want to celebrate this at home and encourage everyone to enjoy Irish music at love:live music. We hope that musicians, groups and organisations around the country will join in love:live music 2012 to bring the exhilarating experience of live Irish music to people throughout the country and make it a day to remember.'
