€135,000 Awarded Through Music Capital Scheme 

 

Music Network recently announced the results of the Music Capital Scheme. A total of €135,000 in funding from the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht has been awarded to ten highly skilled individual musicians and thirteen non-professional performing groups.  More details.

  

 

 

Save the Date - love:live music Friday 20 April 2012  

 

love:live music, National Music Day, is an annual celebration of all forms of music in Ireland through free nationwide music events and aims to promote access to live music for all regardless of location or circumstance and to encourage active participation in music events.

Music Network is inviting venues, promoters, musicians, ensembles and community groups all over Ireland to participate in love:live music 2012.

Arts Council Travel & Training Award

 

There are two strands to this award: Travel and Training Outbound to support individuals who wish to avail of training and other professional development opportunities abroad; and Travel and Training Inbound to support individuals or organisations who wish to invite specialists from abroad to deliver high-level training or mentoring.

 

There are no formal deadlines for the Travel and Training Award. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Applicants seeking support for formal courses (postgraduate or equivalent) and for other eligible opportunities must submit their application at least six weeks before their course or work programme begins. 

 

Maximum awarded: €12000

Music Generation Announces Second Round Results

 

Music Generation - the U2 and Ireland Funds supported National Music Education Programme - have announced that Laois, Cork City and Wicklow are to receive up to €1.7 million in funding.

  

The programme is enabled by a €5 million donation from U2 along with a further €2 million which is currently being raised by The Ireland Funds. The donation represents the largest-ever single philanthropic gift to music education in Ireland in the history of the state. Music Generation, which is successfully underway in Louth, Mayo and Sligo, is expected to create substantial job opportunities for musicians over the next five years as well as providing access to vocal and instrumental tuition for thousands of children and young people who would otherwise not have the chance of participation.
