FRIDAY UPDATE - MARCH 6, 2012

10th anniversary

Monday is the last chance to earn $100 for your campus!

Don't forget we are hosting a mock "office pool," in honor of March Madness. Each NC Campus Compact campus can submit one guess to the following two questions.  The closest guess to each question wins $100 for their campus' programming - that's two $100 mini-grants!

  • How many total pounds of food do you think will be collected by all 42 campuses through the Statewide Challenge?
  • How many total meals will be created or served by all 42 campuses during the November 12 through March 22 Statewide Challenge?

Submit your campus' guess by noon on March 19, 2012. E-mail Julie Lawson, Please put "Campus Guess" in the subject line.

Become a VISTA Host Campus!

Has your campus recognized an urgent need in your community?
Do you have a key community partner to help tackle the issue?
Consider hosting an AmeriCorps*VISTA through NC Campus Compact!

Our VISTAs strengthen connections between a campus and community partner as they work to create, expand, or enhance projects that lift people out of poverty. Through their efforts, VISTAs build the capacity of agencies to address community needs.

For 2012-13, host site applicants will submit proposals that address needs in one or two focus areas: economic opportunity, education, healthy futures, and veterans & military families. VISTAs are full-time volunteers who serve at your site for one year. They receive a living stipend from the Corporation for National and Community Service, while host site pay an administrative fee and provide housing and/or meal support.
