WRAPPING UP FY2011 AND A LOOK AHEAD
Greetings!
There was a fine Southwest Region Conference in Albuquerque during the last days of April, held in conjunction with the Albuquerque Chapter's annual and notable CEC (Continuing Education Conference). Attendance at the joint event included almost 100 CSI members from around the Region; over 165 people, both CSI and non-CSI, were present for the CEC, with 47 booths at the Product Show. Very impressive and job well done by David Vaughan, CSI, CCPR and the Albuquerque Chapter. Much more information can be found in this issue and on the website.
Our CSI fiscal year wraps up on June 30th, and we begin anew each year at mid-summer. Who makes new year resolutions at this time of year? CSI Chapters, officers, and volunteers - that's who. Chapter members, why not give a thought to how your participation can make a difference on your local level. CSI members without Chapter affiliation, is this the year you see an even bigger picture of CSI beneifts? Those who are too far away from a Chapter, Institute and Region have many ways to be involved right from your desktop.
The main point is your contribution to the good of the organization and industry we support and that supports us. CSI is making some serious inroads back to forefront of the construction industry. New leaders are talking about ground-breaking initiatives. If you can, come to Chicago in September to hear about firsthand - but keep checking up on us. You'll be glad you did!

YOU VOTED
And you talked back too - we're glad about that. The ballot elected Dave Bishton, RA, CSI, CCS, and new CCCA of the Denver Chapter as Region Vice-President for FY2012. At the Conference, we were delighted to accept and appoint Robin Snyder, CSI, CCS, SCIP of the Phoenix Chapter as our new Secretary/Treasurer for FY2012-2013. Thank you, Robin, and thanks to Teri Hand, CSI, CDT for her exemplary past service. Your comments helped our conference deliberations and planning for the coming year. Thanks for making it a priority to vote! |

THE END OF THE PAST...THE BEGINNING OF THE FUTURE
By Ron Geren, AIA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP
As CSI members, I would like to ask each of you to do one thing this next fiscal year: VOLUNTEER! It doesn't have to be a big thing like chair a committee or run for chapter vice president. Start small, like helping out on a committee, volunteering to organize a chapter meeting, or calling members to remind them of the upcoming chapter meeting. You get more out of CSI...read on

 REGION CONFERENCE WRAPUP
By David Vaughan, CSI, CCPR, Albuquerque Chapter
Every eight years each of our region chapters is tasked with the challenge and opportunity to host this annual event that gathers Region members from across the southwest for two to three days of leadership training, education and camaraderie.
This year's conference - hosted by the Albuquerque Chapter April 28th - 30th 2011 - proved a success. Building on their successful Continuing Education Conference & Product Show (CEC&PS) the chapter organizing committee bookended the Friday 11th annual CEC&PS with a day of training for incoming Chapter Presidents on Thursday and a full day of Region-only activities on Saturday.
Dignitaries attending the three days of activities included Walter Marlowe, PE, CSI Executive Director of CSI...read more |

CONSTRUCT 2011
EDUCATION: SEPT.13-16
PRODUCT SHOW: SEPT.14-16
McCORMICK PLACE
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
www.constructshow.com
It's time for the BIG SHOW. The website is officially open and taking names. New information will be added all month, and full registration, education info, special events & tours, awards gala, etc. will be completed by month's end. Now's the time to make those hotel reservations if you want to be close in to the convention center. There's even a sample letter to dowload and edit to justify the trip to your boss - how great is that? Let someone at CSI know if it works!
Chicago and the lakefront in September should be great. And how thoughtful for the White Sox to be home during the frst half of the week, and the Cubs home for the weekend. The Museum of Science and Industry is still one of my personal favorites, and it was probably one of my early influences towards building technology as I spent my early boyhood in south Chicago.
Hope to see many Southwest Regionaires (I just made that up) in the Windy City!
