   Eastertide Book Study Wraps Up with a
Visit from the Author Feature
 
 
Bishop Curry photoThis week marks the end of the online book study of Diana Butler Bass' Christianity after Religion: The End of Church and the Birth of a New Spiritual Awakening. The final online forum will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 7:30-9:15pm. Bass will then be present in the Diocese May 18-20 at locations in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro. All events are free and open to the public, but we welcome donations to our host organizations. Each event will also serve as a canned goods collection site for local food banks.

Outreach


Thompson Child & Family Focus' program Wondergirls teaches the practices of emotional intelligence, assertive self-expression and healthy relationships, giving rising sixth through twelfth grade girls the skills and confidence to live as leaders. Run by licensed therapist Rachel Schenker, MS, LCSW, Wondergirls is a unique resource to guide girls through life with grace, courage and authenticity.

 
Sessions run mid-June through mid-August.

The Committee on Environmental Ministry commends this Duke Divinity School Center for Reconciliation's week-long intensive seminar taught by Dr. Norman Wirzba and Fred Bahnson, co-authors of a recently published book by the same title. The seminar is part of the Duke Divinity School Summer Institute and will be co-hosted by the Center for Environmental Leadership. Admission is rolling.

As part of its ongoing series of "Faith & the Arts" offerings, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is pleased to present a choral re-imagining of the beloved musical Carousel. 8-10 - 21st Annual HIV/AIDS Retreat, Kanuga Conference Center, Hendersonville. Province IV Network of AIDS Ministries offers a spiritual, inclusive, open-hearted retreat experience for persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Rev. Thomas Brackett will lead this year's retreat, "Living in Love," and Fran McKendree will provide music leadership.

 

 

The Episcopal Center at Duke University has a working Smith brand central-heating cast iron furnace to get rid of. They are requesting a donation of $500. Contact the Rev. Nils Chittenden if you are interested.
