Call  for Nominees for Two Virginia Seminary Awards - Deadline December 15Feature  

Virginia Theological Seminary is again accepting applications for its annual Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award (LPWE) for laity and for the John Hines Preaching Award.   

 

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award is given to an Episcopal lay person who has given leadership and unique witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ within his or her congregation, community, diocese and in the world over a significant period of time.  

 

The John Hines Preaching Award honors outstanding sermons in which a prophetic voice is central and which are deeply grounded in Scripture and focused on the seen and unseen needs of the worshiping community, the nation and the world. Read more...

Outreach Spotlight: RAIN
(Regional AIDS Interfaith Network)Outreach

Churches can help gather volunteers to assist RAIN (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network) in helping people touched by the AIDS crisis.
RAIN forms Care Teams whose members are trained by RAIN to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to Care Partners (individuals living with HIV/AIDS). Christ Church in Charlotte is one congregation that participates. Read more...

The Rev. Lauren Kilbourn will be ordained to the priesthood at 7:00pm on November 9 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cary by the Rt. Rev. Michael B. Curry.

Celebration of New Ministry
