Outreach Spotlight: Diaper Train
Why diapers?
We rarely stop to think about them, but diapers are an essential part of a child's health and well-being. When a baby's diaper is not changed often enough, the baby can develop a painful diaper rash--or even a serious skin infection. Even more alarming, studies show that an infant who cries often because of a dirty diaper is more likely to be abused.
The Diaper Train
The Diaper Train, a program of Saint Saviour's Center in Raleigh, began in November 2010 to address this need. Raleigh-area churches, synagogues, schools, businesses and civic groups have come together to protect the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community. They are joining Saint Saviour's Center in collecting diapers. Volunteers then deliver the diapers to local agencies for parents in their programs. Read more...
