MDG/Global Missions Grant Proposal Deadline is October 1!

 

October 1 is the deadline to submit MDG/Global Missions grant  proposals to the Diocese's Chartered Committee for Globa l Mission (CCGM). All churches in the diocese are invited to apply for grants to support international missions. The CCGM encourages proposals "inspiring the participation of parishioners in the Diocese of North Carolina and for projects contributing toward sustainability by the community served, with the prospect for self-sufficiency being particularly encouraged."

October 1 is also the application deadline for Jubilee Grants.

October 15 - Seeing the Face of God in Each Other: A Racial Reconciliation Seminar, Holy Comforter, Burlington. Sponsored by the Bishop's Committee for Racial Justice and Reconciliation.

October 21 - Former Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold will lead a clergy retreat at Duke Divinity School entitled "Acquiring a Heart: The Mystery of Christ in Us and the Ministry We Share." For more information and to register, click here.

October 26-28 - Black Ministries Strategic Planning

 
October 27 - Registration deadline for the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) Annual Meeting, St. Luke's, Durham. Event takes place November 11-12. The meeting is open to all women in the diocese. All the details and registration can be found online at  www.ecw-nc.org

September 23 - Flower Design Seminar with National Flower Guild Members, 9 am-noon, Holy Trinity, Greensboro. Cost $45. Contact Ann Vaughn to register.  

 

September 25 - Dr. Marcus Borg "Christian Practice in the 21st Century," 10am, St. Mary's, High Point. Part of St. Mary's year-long Adult Forum year-long titled "Not Just Sundays: Practices of an Intentional Christian Community." Contact the Rev. David Umphlett with questions.     

 

September 30 - 6th Annual Penick Village Art Show and Sale, 6:30pm-9:30pm, Penick Village, Southern Pines. The event features both a live and silent auction, plus beautiful local art, wine and fun. The cost for the evening is $45, and all proceeds benefit the Penick Village Benevolent Assistance Fund, which ensures that no resident is ever turned away due to lack of funds.   

 

October 10 -Finding Our Way in Communities of Faith: Lifelong Discernment, 9:30am-2:30pm, St. Mark's, Gastonia. Join St. Mark's-Gastonia, the Diocese of Western North Carolina, the Center for Spiritual Resources and the Lifelong Christian Formation Committee for a discernment workshop featuring the Rev. Sam Portaro from Chicago. A light soup/salad lunch will be provided. There is no charge for the event. October 16-18 - The Episcopal Peace Fellowship Palestine/Israel Network's first annual membership conference, Cenacle Retreat and Conference Center, Chicago. Naim Ateek will keynote. Workshops on the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement and an introduction to the Episcopal edition of Steadfast Hope, a resource developed by the Israel Palestine Mission Network of the Presbyterian Church USA. October 18 - Former Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold will give a public lecture entitled "Conversation, Conversion and Communion: Reflections on the Church and on Anglicanism" at Duke Divinity School at 7:00pm. For more information, contact David Steenburg.
