Author of Radical Welcome Gives Preview of Regional Workshops for Clergy & Lay Leaders

 
 
 

This week's Please Note features an interview with the Rev. Stephanie Spellers, author of Radical Welcome, who will be coming to North Carolina in November to host the first of three regional workshops for clergy and lay leaders within the diocese. Spellers also is the 195th Convention keynote speaker.

Listen to a panel discussion and open conversation sponsored Sept. 28 by Duke Divinity School's Anglican Episcopal House of Studies on "Fathoming the Archbishop: What is Rowan Williams Up To?" (requires iTunes free software download if program is not installed on your computer).   Williams is the Archbishop of Canterbury and the leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
 
Panelists included Marilyn McCord Adams, Distinguished Research Professor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the former Regius Professor of Divinity in Oxford, England; Sam Wells, Dean of Duke Chapel; and G. October 7 - Registration deadline for 2010 Critical Issues Seminar
of the North Carolina Council of Churches, Loving God's Creation: Fully Integrating Creation Care with the Church's Mission, Keynote Speaker: The Rev. Canon Sally Bingham. Event is Oct. 14.
 
October 9 - St. Andrews Episcopal Church Community Health Fair, from 10 am to 2 pm, 3601 Central Avenue, Charlotte, Vendors/Service Providers from the medical, dental, psychological, eye and pharmaceutical will provide screenings, information/referrals and much more.  Everything is FREE and ALL are welcome to attend (from children, youth, adult & seniors).

October 10-12 - Congregations in the diocese are invited to an old-time revival at St. Cyprian's, Oxford, at 7pm each evening. The Rev Willie Darby, Penn Avenue Baptist Church, Oxford is the revivalist, William Hamilton, a musician from Baltimore, will lead singing, and at least four guest choirs will join St Cyprian's Choir is providing music.
