Program Update

Spring is in the air and we are inching ever closer to the end of the 2011-2012 school year.  Our sincerest thanks to the 173 of you who have presented or who are scheduled to present in a classroom. Because of your efforts we have been able to connect with 4000+ students, leaving them better prepared for the road ahead.  Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Here are some quotes shared:

"I had fun with the course and hope I am now able to make it through the troubles that may come with money" -Project Stay HS student

"It was helpful and Mr. Fiedler was pretty cool" -Kettle Moraine HS student

"Everything was important to know, it was all very helpful" -Ronald Reagan HS student

In February, volunteer training shifted from focus on the Make A Difference - Wisconsin curriculum to engaging today's youth.  Volunteers were provided insight into taking a proactive approach to student involvement and presenting to teens effectively. Volunteers who were able to attend gave very positive responses regarding the information covered, as well as perspective provided by veteran volunteers, who were present to share their experiences (thanks to all of you!).  To view the presentation used in February's training, click on the picture below.

For those who have not yet had the opportunity to present this school year, there are still several classes that will receive programming before the year's end. Those interested in getting into a class please review the list below for upcoming presentations and contact Kathy Weinberg-Kinsey:  kathy@makeadifferencewisconsin.org, (414)273-8101 to sign-up, or for more information.

Thanks so much for all you do, and for your continued commitment and dedication to youth and our community!

Tips from the Classroom    Student Female Hand Raised
Give homework!

Learning goes beyond what is covered in the classroom and there are opportunities to keep students involved and thinking critically after you step out of view. Several of our volunteers and partner educators have asked students to spend time focused on a task that relates to what was, or will be covered in the Make A Difference program outside of class.  READ MORE...

We want to hear from you!

  • Tell us all about your classroom experiences.
  • Let us know what has worked for you and help us to share ideas for successful program delivery with other volunteers.
  • Share stories on how you are connecting with students.
  • Let us know what we can do to make this the most positive experience possible for everyone involved.

Contact Dan Schiller, Program Manager at (414) 273-8101 or via email dan@makeadifferencewisconsin.org to share your insight.
