Program Update

Happy 2012 to all! It looks like winter has finally arrived in Wisconsin making this a great time to look ahead to spring semester.  We have extensive programming that will take place all over the metro area in the first months of 2012 and we look forward to getting as many new and returning volunteers involved as possible.  If you have not presented yet this school year, please consider the opportunities detailed in the section below and let Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Weinberg-Kinsey know you are ready to get involved.

RSVP now for volunteer training: Feb 8, generously hosted by Heartland Advisors Inc. (789 N. Water St. Milwaukee, WI 53202) from 12pm to 1:30pm.  The format for this training will be a question and answer session and will focus primarily on presenting effectively, managing classroom challenges, and engaging today's youth.  Volunteers interested in attending must RSVP by Feb 1 and are asked to please review training video and classroom materials (linked here), and submit questions and topics you would like addressed at training to Program Manager, Dan Schiller (dan@makeadifferencewisconsin.org) prior to Feb 8.

Note: Lunch will be provide by Heartland Advisors Inc.

Thanks so much for all you do, and for your continued commitment and dedication to youth and our community.

Classroom Preparation

Preparation speaks volumes; it facilitates a smooth delivery, bolsters confidence, and conveys to a class that you care. Please ensure that before any volunteer assignment, you review the updated presentations thoroughly and spend time familiarizing yourself with the new Prezi format and navigation of the program (detailed instructions linked here).  The 2011-2012 presentations are now available online and are accessible (links below and can also be found on your volunteer login page linked here.)
