Program Update

Fall is here and volunteers are sharing insight with students all over the Milwaukee metro area about what it is to be financially responsible.

As you have the opportunity to connect with a class you will notice some significant changes to the Make A Difference - Wisconsin program.  First and most apparent is the new look of the presentation itself.  This has been updated to incorporate and compliment the new Make A Difference - Wisconsin logo.  Second, slide transitions on things such as bullet points will require fewer mouse clicks which will allow program delivery in classrooms with limited access to technology to run more smoothly.  Third, small pictures of gold keys have been added to the lower left corners of "must hit slides", this will help you make sure key information is covered and will allow you more opportunity to elaborate on things that catch student interest.  And finally there are a number of new slides and additions to content to make the program more engaging and relevant for today's students, click here to view a comprehensive list of changes.

There are several upcoming opportunities for volunteers to present in the classroom, the following are high schools with volunteer vacancies: Lad Lake Synergy North, Spotted Eagle, South Milwaukee, Vincent, Washington, Waukesha South, Wisconsin Career Academy, click here to view details.  If you are interested in presenting in any of the above mentioned classes please contact Volunteer Coordinator Kathie Yaeger at kathie@makeadifferencewisconsin.org or (414) 273-8101.

We look forward to getting you out to present and hope you enjoy the updates to the curriculum!

Tips from the Classroom
MAD-WI volunteer Cecil Jackson

Cecil Jackson, 2010 Lloyd Levin Difference Maker award winner was asked what he does to engage students in the classroom.  Here's what Cecil had to say...

"I use my three introductory questions to guide the class...

1. What do you like spending money on?

2. What do you like to save money for?

3. What do you hate to spend money on?

I usually give my own answers and then encourage them to share some of theirs. (read more)
