Volunteer Voices Tips from the Classroom
Every teacher knows it can be a challenge to keep students interested and engaged. Many of our volunteers have developed their own tips and enhancements to bring the course material to life.
Volunteer Mikal Gilliat of Brewery Credit Union shows students a two-minute Saturday Night Live "How to stay out of debt" video if the classroom has internet access. To see the video, click here.

Dear Friends,
It's been an exciting summer for Make A Difference-Wisconsin. As many of our volunteers, sponsors, and friends know, we held our first-ever Make A Difference-Wisconsin Investment Conference on June 10. Modeled after the renown Ira Sohn Investment Conference in New York City, we brought seven leading area investment professionals together to share their insights and investment perspectives with 150 attendees. The result was an engaging exchange of information -- and over $18,000 raised for MAD-WI.
Our thanks again to our panel of speakers, as well as special sponsors that included The Business Journal, Godfrey & Kahn, Metavante and The InterContinental Hotel. We are working on an exciting line-up for next year's conference and will announce the date and speakers soon. Stay tuned, it will be an event that you won't want to miss!
The new school year will be here before we know it and we're busy connecting with schools to line up classrooms and coordinate opportunities for volunteers. Our next volunteer training session is scheduled for September 30. If you know of anyone who may be interested in coming on board, please encourage them sign up on our website at www.makeadifferencewisconsin.org or call the MAD-WI office at 414-273-8101.
Last but not least, please save the date for our Recognition Event at the Miller Inn (in the MillerCoors Brewery complex) from 5:30-7:30 pm on September 15. Watch your email for details.
I'm looking forward to working with you to have another great year helping even more students become Money Smart. Life Smart.

Meet a MAD-WI Volunteer
HUB Financial Group's President and founder Jason Smith's first teaching experience with Make a Difference-Wisconsin came at the beginning of the economic down-turn last year. During a hectic time when financial representatives were scrambling to contact distressed clients to provide guidance and counsel, Jason welcomed the opportunity to do something pro-active, and through giving-back gained perspective and peace of mind. "Just the energy and the enthusiasm of the students...I really enjoyed that." To read more about how Jason has made a difference, click here.
