| Greetings! | |
The needs in our community are growing and more people are turning to United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley partners for help. In the Lehigh Valley, unemployment hovers at 9% and almost 19% of our children and youth are living in poverty.
Nearly 60,000 of our neighbors, friends, co-workers and family members are counting on the programs that United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley invests in - so that they can get the help that they so desperately need.
A shortfall in the 2011 campaign could affect programs that supply meals for older adults; childcare programs; after-school programs; adult day care centers; and support for emergency basic need services like food banks, hospitality centers and shelter programs.
This is why we set out to raise $10.33 Million to invest in our community. In the last 37 days of our campaign we have $500,000 in new dollars that we must raise, in order to meet our goal. We urge all those that have not given to the United Way to consider donating today - so that our neighbors, friends, family members and co-workers have the opportunity for a good life. And if you have given to our campaign - we thank you for your continued support.
Invest in your community today.

LOVE UNITED | |
The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) partnered with Boscov's, Brown Daub Dealerships and Lafayette Ambassador Bank for the Love United Basic Needs Drive. Members of the community - as well as corporate partners - collected supplies for families struggling to meet their basic needs of food, shelter and clothing.
Love United was the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley's second community-wide event for 2011-12.
Agencies that received items from the Love United Basic Needs Drive were Lehigh County Conference of Churches, New Bethany Ministries, ProJeCt of Easton, Salvation Army, Third Street Alliance, Victory House and Slater Family Network.
A big thank you to all the companies and organizations that supported the LOVE UNITED drive.
UWGLV currently invests $810,000 in 15 programs to help people meet Basic Needs.
