Family Shelter Receives a Facelift |
|
The culmination of many months of planning happened on Saturday, January 9th when Peace Church members brought new energy to the Family Emergency Shelter.
Congregation members worked side by side with the families living in each apartment. Some cleaned and made repairs, while others removed old furniture and brought in new. Together they organized supplies.
Peace Church members took a break to enjoy the women, children and men they were assisting through a meal, music and games at the CHUM Center.
By the end of the day new friendships had developed! |

Save GAMC Rally February 4, 2010 |
General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC) is a state-funded public
health insurance program for the Minnesota's poorest adults. In a
matter of months, GAMC will be gone, and 35,000 Minnesotans will be without necessary health coverage.
We must act now to save GAMC.
A bus will depart from parking lot at First United
Methodist Church in Duluth at 8:30am and arrive
back at approximately 4:00pm

Its intent is to educate citizens about the process of government
and how to effect positive change.

Rhubarb Festival needs ½-pint canning jars and lids now, for making jams, jellies and syrup.

United Way of Greater Duluth will host it's 4th Annual Bike Swap on April 17 & 18, 2010.They are looking for bikes in reasonable condition for resale to the public.
