Tips for Coping with Loss During the Holidays:

  • Don't expect too much of yourself, grief can be exhausting.
  • Have a family meeting and decide who is going to do certain chores for the celebration.
  • Revisit old traditions. Decide which traditions you want to keep and which you might want to change.
  • Give yourself permission to smile. Don't feel guilty if you are able to enjoy parts of the holiday celebration.
  • Get plenty of rest and exercise. Eat healthy foods.
  • You might want to do something to honor your loved one. This may include: telling stories, sharing memories, serving his/her favorite food, starting a new tradition in his/her memory.
  •
