 TOP SECRET AMERICA

"Top Secret America" is a Washington Post project nearly two years in the making that describes the huge national security buildup in the United States after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

When it comes to national security, all too often no expense is spared and few questions are asked - with the result an enterprise so massive that nobody in government has a full understanding of it. It is, as Dana Priest and William M. Arkin have found, ubiquitous, often inefficient and mostly invisible to the people it is meant to protect and who fund it.

The articles in this series and an online database at topsecretamerica.com depict the scope and complexity of the government's national security program through interactive maps and other graphics.

 Media Advisory
Washington Post Series

The Washington Post is publishing articles and an interactive website containing a compendium of government agencies and contractors allegedly conducting Top Secret work.  The website may enable users to see relationships between the federal government and its contractors, describe the type of work the contractors perform, and may identify many government and contractor facility locations. Today's article, "The Secrets Next Door" is the third and final article of a three-part investigative series.  It is widely anticipated this series and website will generate follow-on media interest.

NBDPA Members are reminded defense contractors are not authorized to respond to any media requests for comments or information. Where applicable, additional information concerning contractual and security responsibilities regarding such disclosures are available from your firm or organization's CSSO (Contractor Special Security Officer) and FSO (Facility Security Officer).
