President Obama Nominates Malcolm D. Jackson to EPA Post
 BDPA Member is new Nominee for Assistant Administrator for Environmental Information, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)



WASHINGTON, DC (bdpatoday)--President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate Malcolm D. Jackson, a Senior IT executive, to a key administration post. Mr. Jackson recently served as the Senior IT Business Unit Director of CIGNA Insurance Disability Management Business, where he managed all IT aspects that supported short term disability, long term disability, life and accident insurance products and services.  From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Jackson also served as the Senior IT Business Unit Director for CIGNA Insurance Corporate Business Functions.   During this tenure, Mr. Jackson directed the development of IT applications for Human Resources, Finance, Legal and Public Affairs, and Investments.  In addition, Mr. Jackson had IT oversight for Corporate Owned Life Insurance, Reinsurance, and Settlement Annuities.   Prior to joining CIGNA Insurance, Mr. Jackson held various positions in the areas of IT, engineering, marketing and general business management at Monsanto, Quaker Oats, General Dynamics, and Shell Oil Company.  Throughout his career, Mr. Jackson has developed expertise in IT strategy, development of large scale enterprise resource planning, establishing performance metrics, and business process re-engineering. 
 
Mr. Jackson is a member of NBDPA's Chapter of The Year, the Philadelphia Chapter; a Board member of the Children's Literacy Initiative in Philadelphia, and a Board member of the Jackson State University National Alumni Association, where he chairs the membership committee.  Mr. Jackson holds a B.S. from Jackson State University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University, J.L. Kellogg School of Management.                                                                              bt

National BDPA Technology Conference and Career Fair heads to Philadelphia July 28-31
 
 
IT Showcase 2010 EventsNewark, DE (May 15, 2010) -Invitations were extended to the tri-sate area and regional BDPA Members for today's Regional Information Technology Showcase(ITSC) hosted by NBDPA's Northern Delaware Chapter (NDC.)
 
BDPA Northern Delaware is hosting today's Regional IT Showcase event allowing students from the Northeast corridor and beyond to present their 2010 research topics to local corporations and educational leaders. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the National ITSC competition to be hosted in the city in which National BDPA originated--Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
 
BDPA's IT Showcase events allow student presenters to showcase their talents by presenting science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) based research projects.  Each student drafts a college level paper based on their research.
 
The IT Showcase program was introduced to National BDPA eight years ago in 2002 by Dr. Jesse Bemley, Joint Educational Facilities (JEF.) The BDPA NDC Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program was established in 2008 with a focus on providing technical and leadership skill development for high school and undergraduate students.Students focus on building and executing their own personal roadmap which takes them from "The Classroom to the Boardroom".
 
Dr. Bemley is attending today's event and will be receiving his chapter's Lifetime Achievement award in Washington, D.C. on June 4th, 2010.  Pre-registration is required today for appropriate meal arrangements with Northern Delaware and other ITSC host chapters.                                                          bt
