That is how you say hello in Moroccan Arabic and Morocco is the theme of our activity at the upcoming Ethnic Fest at the Lincolnwood Library.
Fall is a busy time at Global Explorers Kids. We not only have our regular after school programs that bring the world to our children, but several community programs that are coming soon, as well as our annual fall fund and friend raiser that promises to be an exciting evening. Read below for more information on these events. I hope you can join us for the festivities and/or stop by one of our booths to have some hands-on fun.

Dance and Play the Night Away
Global Explorers Kids Fall Fundraiser
Fall is in the air, and that means it is time for Global Explorers Kids annual fundraiser! Join us in a global celebration featuring games and dance from around the world and tastes of cuisine from local ethnic restaurants. The evening will feature mini dance lessons, where you can learn dances from different cultures; board and group games from many countries; and raffle, grab bag, and contest prizes donated by area businesses.
Explore the world with your family. Dance and Play the Night Away will take place on Friday, November 19, from 6-9 pm at Belle Plaine Studio, 2014 W Belle Plaine. A $20 suggested donation in advance ($5 for children), or $25 suggested donation at the door ($7 for children) includes food and entertainment, one drink ticket and one raffle ticket.

Chicago Children's Museum
Community Membership Program
Global Explorers Kids is a proud Community Partner of the Chicago Children's Museum. Through this partnership, the Children's Museum offers low-income families that participate in Global Explorers Kids programs the opportunity to receive memberships to the Museum for only $10 through the Community Family Membership Program. By becoming Community Family Members, families can receive free admission to the Chicago Children's Museum for up to six family members for one year, discounted parking at Navy Pier, discounts on museum store purchases, and free or discounted admission to participating science centers and museums. If you qualify and are interested in participating in this great opportunity, please contact Global Explorers Kids at globalexplorerskids@yahoo.com. The deadline to register for the program is October 31. |
Barefoot Books Fundraising
Spread your love of multicultural literature two ways! When you purchase a Barefoot Book to share with a loved one, your purchase will help provide scholarships so children from low-income families can attend Global Explorers Kids classes free of charge. Purchases must be made through Global Explorers Kids' online Marketplace http://www.barefootbooks.com/marketplace/9226/. Start shopping today!

Global Explorers Kids Happenings
Lincoln Square Halloween Happenings.
Join us at the Lincoln Square Halloween Happenings on Saturday, Oct. 30. Local businesses are sponsoring trick-or-treating from 10 am - 4 pm. Global Explorers Kids will have a table set up in Giddings Plaza, at Lincoln and Leland, from 11 am - 1 pm, helping children make crafts for Dia de los Muertos.
Lincolnwood Library Ethnic Fest. We will be participating in the Lincolnwood Library Ethnic Fest on Sunday, November 7, from 1 - 4 pm. The event features performances, crafts, and food from around the world. Global Explorers Kids will help children make crafts based on Moroccan hamsa. Lincolnwood Library is located at 4000 W Pratt Ave., in Lincolnwood.
Waters Artisans Craft Sale.
Look for Global Explorers Kids at Waters Artisans Craft Sale, Saturday, December 4, 10-3 pm at Waters Elementary School, 4540 N Campbell. We will be offering henna painting and selling Barefoot Books to help raise money for scholarships.
