THE ANGEL FUND

March 2009
Dear Angel Fund Family,
Researchers at UMASS Medical School in Worcester have discovered a gene whose mutations could open up new avenues in the search for more promising therapies to fight ALS. The discovery was made by a team of researchers led by Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr. chairman of neurology at UMASS Medical School. Dr. Brown was the senior investigator of the study; the lead author on the study was Dr. Thomas Kwiatkowski. Work on the study also involved staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and doctors in London and at Northwestern University in Chicago. To read more go to The Angel Fund website.

We are very grateful to Dr. Brown and his team for working tirelessly to find a cure. The Angel Fund is also proud that Dr. Kwiatkowski was the first Angel Fund Fellow to receive support from The Angel Fund.

We are excited about the new discoveries, but we have more work to do. We continue to need your support in our battle to find the cure.

Please continue to support our events and donate as you can. We have a full listing of events on the website.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
