Cleary Brothers Managers Retreat
Recently, Mike & Martin, owners of Cleary Bros. rewarded their managers for their tremendous efforts this year by inviting them to a relaxing weekend at Lake Tahoe. The weekend began Friday evening with an elegant dinner cruise on Emerald Bay. Saturday followed up with spa treatments, hiking or whatever activities people wanted to do before regrouping again Saturday night at The Chart House for dinner. "We have become one of the top landscape companies in the Bay Area and to keep that up I know we need to be one of the best places to work. Our customers love us because we have motivated top-talent. Attracting and keeping the best people in the green industry is a top priority." says Martin. |

Jack Heckman
Jack has been the Senior Carpenter at Cleary Bros since 1990. With a strong background in finish carpentry and steel fabrication he is in constant demand. Jack's approach to projects is simple, "Do it right or don't do it at all". Jack is not only an extraordinary craftsman but also a pleasure to be around. Cleary Bros has received countless compliments on his work and his presence on projects. Jack has been married to Dottie for the last 25 years and enjoys spending time with his two kids biking, kayaking or anything in the great outdoors. |

Sheet Mulching at Clark Kerr Campus
UC Berkeley
UC Berkeley selected Cleary Bros. Landscape to install the new Bay Friendly Landscape at the entry of Clark Kerr Campus in Berkeley. The picture above illustrates a process called 'Sheet Mulching'. This is a Bay Friendly Landscape technique where recycled paper is used below a heavy mulch layer of organic compost to help retain water and keep weeds from growing in ground cover beds. Sheet mulching is a very good choice when planting over an area previously covered with grasses. Cleary Brothers has several people on staff that are certified in Bay Friendly Landscaping and continues to implement these techniques whenever possible. Approaching its one-year anniversary with Cleary Bros, City Park at Sunnyvale HOA is a fairly new addition to our growing South Bay portfolio. Nestled between mature Redwood trees, this charming association is home to a Board that is very passionate about its landscaping. Immediately upon commencement of our maintenance services, we were asked to present ideas to enhance the look of this unique community. In a collaborative effort with the Board and Management, we successfully designed and completed a significant renovation project which focused on adding more color and texture to a bland, green, plant palette. So in the words of Emeril Lagasse, we took what was good and, "Kicked it up a notch," to become one of our showcase properties. |
