Leslie's Catalysts
Another year beckons...
Greetings!

It may have been at times a bumpy year, yet it sure rushed along.

At the end of the year I always take stock, and, set goals. When I look at last year's goals, I feel blessed to have achieved many of them. I don't hammer myself for falling short.

The whole idea of setting up a new year, of clearing the decks, and bringing a fresh outlook to bear on a renewed vision helps me keep energized during the last few months of the year.

At the same time, to feel charitable toward ol' 2009 is to sense it was a challenging year for me and others. Still, there were some great learning too.

I wish everybody a Joyous New Year!

One of my best wishes for everybody is: that the next year be, in a word, wonderful!

Lately, I've been thinking about how to support the younger generation in their dreams. Here's some wisdom I'm resonating to.

The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope. (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin)

If the next generation is to face the future with zest and self-confidence, we must educate them to be original as well as competent. (Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi)

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish. (Ovid)

How about you? What carries you positively into the new year?

As always, feel free to pass along, opt in or opt out of my newsletter. Feel free to forward it along.

Have great days,

Leslie

Ins & Outs of Motivation and much more...
Leslie Yerkes has been teaching courses in the executive education program at The Weatherhead School of Management's Dively Center for many years. Her classes represent the intensive version of public speaking about the same subjects. Several years ago she began teaching two section: Managing For Motivation, and, Managing the Generations.

Leslie fits her experiential learning approach to two broad frameworks about motivation. One is to bring in her long-standing understanding about the whole person at work, the second is to differentiate what some of the generational differences are with respect to leading and motivating today's diverse, inter-generational workforce.
