Neighborhood Safety
Thanks to the Chicago Police Department and the 18th District Old Town is much safer.  A number of arrests have been made in the area recently to cut down on drug traffic.
Burglery and Theft continue to be a concern.  Please stay aware of your surroundings and keep expensive items out of sight.  Namely apple products, wallets, sunglasses; anything that could be "grab and go."
To support community safety, the 18th District is putting on a Burglary  Prevention Seminar on July 6th at 6:30pm.

The Chicago Plan

WHAT IS THE CHICAGO PLAN?

The CHICAGO Plan is a Chicago Police Department initiative that works with the business community to attack crime and gang offenses and to help make Chicago a safer city.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The CHICAGO Plan asks business owners across the city to register their privately owned closed circuit security camera systems and devices. As the Police Department responds to criminal incidents in the community, they can use any information or footage gathered from these security cameras to assist business owners and community members in the apprehension and prosecution of the criminals involved.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A SECURITY CAMERA REGISTRATION PROGRAM?

The Chicago Police Department is committed to working with the community to combat crime and improve quality of life throughout the City.

Art Fest A Rousing Success

If you looked at the weather report, you'd never have guessed that this past year's Wells Street Art Fest was one of the most successful.  From the artists to the businesses, to the residents and guests -- compliments and sales were plentiful.  Thanks to the 18th District, Mayor's Office of Special Events, Alderman Michele Smith, Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr., Special Events Management, The Old Town Merchants and Residents Association Festival Commitee, Residents and Businesses in Old Town and of course Kardas Photography.

The Wells Street Art Fest allows OTMRA to keep the neighborhood going strong for businesses and residents alike.  WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

Thanks for your continued support of the Old Town Merchants and Residents Association!  The Association takes pride in the neighborhood and works tirelessly to support and promote it's member residents and businesses.  If you have any questions, would like to learn more about membership, or just get involved in the neighborhood; stop in or give us a call!

Sincerely,

Old Town Merchants & Residents Association
