Wells Street Art Fest is Coming!

37th Annual Wells Street Art Fest Hits Old Town

Saturday & Sunday June 11th and 12th

The Wells Street Art Festival is recognized as one of Chicago's most prestigious art fairs, attracting exhibitors and prospective buyers from all over the nation. The show features a wide variety of fine art - everything from glass and ceramics, to pencil drawings and oil paintings - plus a silent auction. Musicians performing along Wells Street will make you forget you're at an outdoor festival!

Entertainment & Attractions
Besides the main attraction of world-class art, The Wells Street Art Festival offers a vast array of entertainment. A main music stage features continuous live rock, jazz, and top-name, nationally-renowned headline entertainment. In addition, the festival boasts a vast assortment of Chicago's best food, live musicians along Wells Street, a silent auction and more!

Saturday & Sunday; 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Place your bid on beautiful, original works of art donated by artists exhibiting in this year's art festival. Collage, photography, works on paper, paintings, sculptures, glassworks, and jewelry will be on exhibit both days during the festival. Fifty percent of each auction item goes back to the neighborhood.

Near North Unity Project
27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. is sponsorsing a LISC-led initiative to open communication about building a more cohesive Near North Community.  Throughout the planning stages of the NNUP initiative, residential and business people are being sought out for their ideas and interest. 
Meetings are underway to gather motivated minds to discuss communication throughout the community.  Please contact the OTMRA office if you would like to learn more about serving your community through leadership and service. 

OLD TOWN COMMUNITY GARDEN

Old Town Gardens is leading an effort to create a community garden at 1432 N. Orleans.  Currently there are sponsorship opportunities to help build another community area for the Old Town Community. 

To date there is a public garden with 11 separate beds being planned for the area on Orleans next to the Brown Line tracks.  If you would like to support Old Town Gardens in their effort and learn more about the CTA-visible advertising that goes along with sponsorship, please contact Geena at OTG.

Welcome Alderman Smith!
As of Tuesday, May 17th newly elected 43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith is using the same ward office as her predecessor. 
Alderman Smith's office is located at 735 W. Wrightwood.  Her hours are Monday: 9:00am - 7:00pm, Tuesday through Thursday: 9:00am - 6pm, Friday: 9:00am- 12-noon and 2pm - 6pm.  The 43rd Ward phone number is 312-450-9703.

Wednesday, July 6th, 6:30pm:  Beat 1821 at the Near North Library, 330 W Division for 43rd Ward residents between North Avenue and Division from LaSalle to Larrabee. 

 

Wednesday, July 6th, 3:00pm: Hospitality Sub-Committee at Shenanigans, 16 W. Division.  Attendance Required for all late-night liquor licensees.  All interested parties encouraged to attend.
