It's Finally May!

Night Out with Bistrot Margot and A Red Orchid  
 
The next Night Out event is scheduled and less than two weeks away.  If you don't have plans on Thursday, May 12th, join us for complimentary hors d' oeuvres and drink specials at 6:30pm at Bistrot Margot followed by a 8:00pm performance of The Mandrake at A Red Orchid Theatre. 
 
Price per person for the whole night is $25.00.  Reservations must be pre-paid as space is limited.  For more information, please call, email, or stop in the office!
 
  
Open House at 1407 N. Wells
 
Sperry Van Ness is holding a broker open house for a high profile and unique space available at Gaslight Court in Old Town.  The open house will run from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 4th.  Beer, wine, soft drinks, and appetizers will be served.

Near North Unity Project
27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. is sponsorsing a LISC-led initiative to open communication about building a more cohesive Near North Community.  Throughout the planning stages of the NNUP initiative, residential and business people are being sought out for their ideas and interest. 
A meeting is being planned to gather motivated minds to discuss communication throughout the community.  Please contact the OTMRA office if you would like to learn more about serving your community through leadership and service. 

OLD TOWN COMMUNITY GARDEN

Old Town Gardens is leading an effort to create a community garden at 1432 N. Orleans.  Currently there are sponsorship opportunities to help build another community area for the Old Town Community. 

To date there is a public garden with 11 separate beds being planned for the area on Orleans next to the Brown Line tracks.  If you would like to support Old Town Gardens in their effort and learn more about the CTA-visible advertising that goes along with sponsorship, please contact Geena at OTG.

Mortgage Relief Seminar
Aldermen Daley and Tunney are hosting a Mortgage Relief Seminar at Lincoln Park High School (2001 N. Orchard) on Saturday May 14th from 9am - 1pm.  Registration is open until noon. 
You'll be able to learn more about the ins and outs of mortgage law and find ways to save money.

Lakeview/Lincoln Park Art Initiative:

Aldermen Daley and Tunney's offices have completed the administrative end of the neighborhoods' art initiative.  Stop by Burton Place where OTMRA's sponsored piece, "Boundless" by Boyan Marinov, will be installed on Tuesday May 2nd at 2pm.  Thanks much to Alderman Daley and her staff for their commitment to public art in the neighborhood!

Community Meeting
On Monday, May 2nd at 7:00pm there will be a Community Meeting at the Stanton Park Gymnasium at 618 W. Scott Street.

A new Target store is being planned for the site at 600 W. Division.  The Development Team will be present to discuss the project and answer questions.

CAPS MEETINGS -- MAY 2011

 

***There has been a change in the scheduling of CAPS Meetings.  CAPS Meetings will occur in the odd months only.


 Wednesday, May 4th, 6:30pm:  Beat 1821 at the Near North Library, 330 W Division for 43rd Ward residents between North Avenue and Division from LaSalle to Larrabee. 

 

Wednesday, May 4th, 3:00pm: Hospitality Sub-Committee at Shenanigans, 16 W. Division.  Attendance Required for all late-night liquor licensees.  All interested parties encouraged to attend.
