DEAR OLD TOWN NEIGHBOR,
The days are getting longer and there seems to be a general air of enthusiasm working its way through Old Town. Restaurantuers are measuring for their sidewalk cafes, retailers are getting out their stock for spring, and just about everyone is waiting for the snow to melt. Hang in there. In a month . . . wait. Shouldn't jinx it. Take a moment to read about some of the things going on in Old Town right now!

Business Scholarships Available!
Foresight Design Initiative, Inc. still has some scholarships available for businesses to participate in their Chicago Sustainable Business Alliance Workshops. The deadline to apply (via email) for the March 9 workshop: Sustainable Business Fundamentals - Practices (CSBA 102) is 4 March 2010.
Sustainable Business Fundamentals - Practices (CSBA 102) Applying and Integrating the Principles This course delves into the implications that sustainability principles have on different aspects of an enterprise. Participants will gain an understanding of how the pursuit of sustainability can impact product/service development, marketing, finance, human resources, and operations. Issues such as an integrative approach, priority setting, and incremental implementation will also be explored. Co-taught by an experienced business executive and Foresight's Executive Director, the course will also cover real life examples and applications. Although the course builds on concepts introduced in CSBA 101, attendance at 101 is not required. In order to be considered for one of the scholarships, we must receive an email from the business that includes the business name, primary person and their contact information, plus a paragraph explaining how they could benefit from attending the workshop. We will select three organizations to participate. Attendance for chosen parties is mandatory. This opportunity is intended to promote increased awareness and potential implementation of sustainable business principles. A combination of methodologies will be used to determine implementation of (and benefits to) the participating businesses including evaluations and surveys.
Questions should be directed to Bobbie at: csba@foresightdesign.org |
