Art Fest is in the air. . .
DEAR OLD TOWN NEIGHBOR,
It snuck up on us, but we're ready for it!  It's time once again to come together as a neighborhood and celebrate the artisitc history and present-day vibrancy of Old Town.  This year is a big one for us.  2009 marks the 35th anniversary of the Wells Street Art Fest.  We hope you, your friends, families and neighbors can join us!

ART FEST DETAILS

The Wells Street Art Festival is always held on the second weekend in June.  This year the second weekend happens to fall on Saturday June 13th and Sunday June 14th.  Please help us welcome 250 artists from all over the country!  The selection of artists has been professionally juried from a field of over 500 -- the quality of work is guaranteed.  The festival footprint runs on Wells Street from North Avenue to Division and the hours of operation are from 10am - 10pm. art fest poster
Aside from the art, you'll be able to sample food from some of the best restaurants in the city.  Adobo Grill, Bacci Pizza, Bistrot Margot, Dinotto Ristorante, Fireplace Inn, Kamehachi of Tokyo, O'Briens, Orso's, Tiparo's and Trattoria Roma are all stepping out of their homes and onto Wells Street to serve the masses.  When you're done with your shopping and dining -- stay for the enetertainment.

As in years past, the musical line up is an integral part of the festival programing.  This year the headliners on Saturday will be Afrodisacs followed by Hello Dave.  On Sunday crowd-pleasers American English will play.  Watch them move through the Beatle's different phases during a double set.  And of course Jesse White's tumblers will be here too!

This year's poster -- visible throughout the neighborhood -- was designed by lifetime resident and graphic designer Linda Gits.  Her design was chosen from over 15 submissions.  Congrats, Linda! If you have any questions about the festival or would like to read more, please visit www.wellsstartfest.comor call the office at 312-951-6106.

TWENTY YEARS AND STILL KICKING!
It's nice when you have a good relationship with your neighbors, when you know you can count on them for a smile and a warm plate of food (or a cool glass of wine. . . ).  That's why it is with great pride, that we congratulate Dino, George, and JC on their 20th Anniversary this year. dinotto logo

Dinotto Ristorante has moved across Wells Street to 215 W. North Avenue, but they are still known for their fabulous cuisine and fun, attentive service.  The outdoor patio, set back from the street by an ivy covered fence, is the ideal place to get away from the hussle and bustle of the city.  Especially with their specials: Sunday through Tuesday you can set your sights on a 3 course meal including wine for $25.00.  Then on Wednesday stop in for their half priced bottles of wine.

Besides loads of regular customers, pre-theatre tourists, and large groups (Dinotto & staff witll be hosting this year's Old Town Concierge Night), Dinotto is also available for private parties and catering orders.  Stop in to talk to Chef Dino, call 312-202-0302 for a reservation, or check them out online at www.dinotto.com
As you may recall the social scheduled for April had to be cancelled.  Due to time and space constraints we are combining the April Social with the Art Fest Social and celebrating on Friday, June 12th from 6pm-9pm at the Carriage Lot on Wells Street just north of Las Pinatas.  This social is free for members and $25.00 for non-members.  It's a great chance to nosh on neighborhood treats, sip on wine, and get a sneak preview of some of the artists' work!  Call or email the office if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

Comes Back to Old Town!
The Old Town Merchants and Residents Association have been big supporters of Aldermen Daley and Tunney's Lincoln Park Lake View Art Initiative.  The latest installation is freshly mounted in Burton Place.  "Tussle," a sculpture by Ted Sitting Crow Garner will be on display in our neighborhood for one year. Thanks to the 43rd Ward Office and Barb Guttman for all their work!

 CONSTRUCTION???
Thankfully the street at North and Wells isn't being torn up -- just the sidewalks -- and it'll just be a couple days.  But watch out, motorists. . . especially those who try to inch across the intersection even though the light is a stale yellow (you know who you are)!
Because word from the 43rd Ward Office has it that Old Town is the newest recipient of red light traffic cameras!
BEHOLD. . .
