Lions or Lambs. . . ?
DEAR OLD TOWN NEIGHBOR,
March seems to be sneaking up on us this year.  There hasn't been a whole lot of down time in Old Town.  From a busy Valentine's Day to the Annual Dinner and now St. Patrick's Day -- never a dull moment!  Take a second to read some of the news from the neighborhood. . . .

CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN OLD TOWN!

OBriensOld Town has plans for St. Patrick's  Day this year.  Neighborhood institution, O'Briens (1528 N. Wells) is celebrating all month long with their "Month of Mercy." Donations will be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls during the month long festivitties which include Thursday night showings of Irish films, special Irish fare, and a raffle for airfare to Ireland and outstanding cash prizes.  To read more visit O'Brien's website

Suite Lounge (1446 N. Wells) might not seem like an obvious choice for a St. Patrick's Day celebration, but when you have a lounge, and your last name is O'Looney is there a question as to what you'll be doing on St. Patrick's Day?  This year the festivities are on the 14th and start early.  $20 will get you an Irish breakfast and a whole lot more.  Take a look at Suite Lounge online to get the details.

corcoransCorcoran's is yet another option for the Irish in all of us.  Look no further than 1615 N. Wells. There will be Irish specials to be had everyday starting March 4th.  From corned beef and cabbage to Guinness glass give-aways.  Check out Corcoran's list of St. Patrick's day events.  So this March, keep your St. Patrick's Day celebrations local -- stay in Old Town!
Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS)

Did you know you have a monthly opportuinty to meet with your neighbors and the local capspolice authorities?  CAPS meetings occur in each of the 25 police districts in the city of Chicago and are typically organized into "beat meetings" at which police, the community, and other city departments can have open dialogue about needs for their specific area.  There are also "sub-committee" meetings through the CAPS program, like the monthly meeting of the hospitality sub-committee at Shenanigin's the first Thursday of every month.

All are welcome to these meetings -- if you have any questions about which beat you live in, where your meeting is, or how to get involved, don't hesitate to look here, or call or stop in the office.  Stay involved in your community and it will always be a great place to call home.

2009 ANNUAL DINNER IN OLD TOWN
On February 19th neighbors, retailers, restauranteurs, and politicians came together to celebrate the neighborhood at the Chicago History Museum.  Secretary of State Jesse White and Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. both spoke to the crowd and enjoyed music from the Steve Edwards Band.  Mary Quincannon, Chairman of the Old Town Merchants and Residents Association, was honored with a leadership award for her years of service to the Association and the neighborhood.  Take a look at some of the good times!annual dinner wide shot

DON'T FORGET TO SPRING FORWARD!

ob clockGetting excited for spring?  Before the season change is official, we've got a little time adjustment to take care of.  We'll lose an hour but gain a lot more sunlight.  Make sure to set your clocks forward on Sunday, March 8th!
