"How refreshing to read this approach to community living (as opposed to so many others) in such a well-designed presentation. I am very proud to be a future resident of Emerald Heights."

Vol. 3, Issue: 9
October 2011
Greetings!

In this issue of Connection, we look to the past, the future and the very engaging present day at Emerald Heights.

This month, Emerald Heights marks its 19th anniversary since opening its doors, so we look to the past and salute the visionary founders who brought this community to life.

Then, we look to the future, as Emerald Heights plans its expansion and builds upon the founders' vision. The preliminary sketches and floor plans are in, and we can see our vision taking shape.

Then resident blogger Marilyn Farrell chimes in about the fun and friendships to be found in the present day.

Finally, we invite you to our upcoming Four-Course Conversations Series.

Enjoy!

founderFounders Story: How it all began

early construction photo How did Emerald Heights evolve from one man's idea to the thriving community we know today?

It's an interesting story that demonstrates how a small group of people with persistence and passion for an idea can attract others willing to make the idea a reality. It also shows once again how Emerald Heights is a reflection of the people who live here.

As we embark on our expansion plans and build upon the legacy of our founders, we take a moment to reflect on how it all began, and recall the extraordinary journey these visionary leaders took to create the community we cherish.

shapeThe Future is taking shape!

master plan sketchesOver the last year, Emerald Heights has shared its vision for possible campus expansion and asked for input from residents, future residents and others.

Did the plan make sense? What would residents want in their new home? Was it a vision that was attractive?

We listened to a wide range of ideas, and we put our architects and designers to work. We are now reviewing building design concepts, featuring underground parking, and preliminary floor plans and layouts, including open kitchens, walk-in closets and more.

Build your future here

This is an exciting time at Emerald Heights, and we invite you to join us in building a future together.

Like the original founders who created our community, you can play a key role in the planning of our expansion, share your feedback on the building designs and floor plans, and be among the first to reserve a new apartment home

Wanna play?

Do you remember going from house to house in your neighborhood as a child, asking if the kids who lived there wanted to come out and play?

Or maybe you remember living in a college dorm and discovering common interests with your roomies.

I'm recreating that experience right here at Emerald Heights. Anytime I am in the mood to play, I grab my friends from the neighborhood and head to the game room for a rousing game of "Hand and Foot" -- my new favorite card game.

This ability to throw together a quick game with friends, to share something I love and to learn something new makes my life much fuller.
