Emerald Heights has earned a spot on King County's new Best Workplaces for Recycling and Waste Reduction Honor Roll, having won recognition for its recycling efforts for five consecutive years. In 2011, Emerald Heights focused on reducing print publications through the use of email and voicemail. Emerald Heights also sought new partnerships for reuse of furniture and other durable items no longer needed within the community.

Residents open their doors to more than 150 visitors

It was a glorious sunny Saturday for our Open House on June 4th.

More than 150 guests toured five apartments, got a sample of the campus, the trail, Corwin Center and the garden railroad. Resident hosts answered questions and talked about their experience with downsizing and moving to Emerald Heights.

They also got a chance to view this video slide show I created. I really wanted to show off the fun and active group of residents I now call my neighbors. There's an energy you just can't capture in words.

But I still try! Click here to read more about my take on the Open House.

I've also shared a few photos of the day's activity in this slide show. Enjoy!

Visit Marilyn's blog anytime. And if you have a question or comment, please send her an e-mail. She'd love to hear from you!

Join us for Four-Course Conversations

If you're hungry for great food and good information, you won't want to miss our second annual (and very popular!) Four-Course Conversations.

This two-day lunch series, scheduled for
July 20  and August 3, is designed to help you explore many aspects of moving to and living in a community like Emerald Heights.

Our dining staff will delight you with a series of delicious small-plate offerings, while you and your tablemates sink your teeth into some of the meatier issues surrounding the decision to move to a retirement community and how you'll adjust to life in your new home.

With each course, a different resident table host will arrive and serve up a round of questions to get the conversation started. You'll also get a chance to grill our staff members and pepper them with your remaining questions.

Reservations Required

Reserve your place at the table-and a few for your friends. RSVP online by Wednesday, July 13.

Come for both days or choose the one that best fits your schedule!

Click here for complete event details, online reservations, a map and driving directions.
