As an artist, performing artist, curator, educator and world traveler, Donna has an eye for the unusual and can demonstrate how a simple accessory, bold choice of color or unexpected combination of textures can make a whole new look-one that is wholly you.

Her tips work for any age and any style. The trick is to develop your own! As a skilled thrift store shopper, Donna can share insider tips on how to find some true treasures in the most unexpected places.

Donna Porter
About our presenter

Donna Lindeman Porter earned her MFA from the University of Washington and works as both a painter and a sculptor. She is an artist-in-residence whose work has included the Harborview Hospital Burn Unit, schools and theaters. Her work has been exhibited at Bellevue Art Museum, Nordic Heritage Museum, University of Puget Sound and many other venues. A member of the Kirkland Cultural Council, Donna has been a regional arts advocate for more than 20 years. "I've worked hard, flirted with fame, had success and failure, and am a lifelong learner," she says. "It does continue!"

Home is Where the Heart Is
Senior Housing & Health Fair

Saturday, October 17, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Seniors contemplating moving out of their home to a senior community will find a full range of housing options showcased. Aging in place will also be represented at the fair with a variety of agencies exhibiting their services that are brought to the home.
No entrance fee; $5 donation suggested to support Senior Care's community education programs.

Managing Dementia | Depression | Respite | Caregiver Self-Care
November 7, 2009, 9:00 -11:00 a.m.
Join Patricia Hunter, Director of Programs and Policy, Alzheimer's Association, for this informative seminar. Learn how to recognize early signs and symptoms of dementia, along with progression of the illness. Be able to differentiate dementia symptoms from signs of depression and find resources for care needs including respite care. Presented by Aging Services of Washington. Free.
