Greetings!
Happiest of holiday seasons, from all of us
at Tennessee Shakespeare Company!
| Greetings from Seattle |
 |
|
I'm directing THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS here
through
this month. And while I am grateful to work
on this
Commedia
play and I fancy the city, I miss home, my
family, and
my
friends.
No matter what holiday or season you are
celebrating
this
month, you're probably giving a gift to
someone. And
you are
probably reflecting on your year. A few gifts I
remember to
TSC:
* the first two unsolicited contributions to
the Company
from
Hudson Adams in Atlanta and Kate Millonzi in
Massachusetts,
* Chairman George Walters telling me in late
May, "I'll
handle that, lad,"
* Rev. Gary Sturni giving anything he had
available to
him,
* Barbara Apperson's smile in a theatre
filled with
her
friends and family,
* our first audience that packed the pews
(I was
hoping for
just 10 people out there),
* Donna Ladd (pictured above) raking up
buckeyes at the
entrance
to the
Forest of Arden,
* and Stephanie Shine, Seattle Shakespeare
Company's
Artistic Director, who, when I frequently
said that I
didn't know if
all this would happen, always replied, "It's
going to
happen."
You gave the Mid-South a most unique gift
this year.
When
you purchased your tickets and made a
contribution,
you
helped birth the Memphis area's only
professional,
classical
theatre. Thank you.
You are a member of our family, and I miss you.
Especially
during this holiday season and being so far away.
But we are hard at work planning a special
2009-10
performance and education season, which we hope
will excite
and inspire you. And personally, I can't
wait to see
you again!
Please travel safely, enjoy your family and
friends, and
take a
moment to consider all the good you have
given the
world this
year. I am proud to know you.
Much love,
Dan McCleary

At the end of October we asked you to send your
thoughts
about Tennessee Shakespeare Company to our
media
sponsor, The Commercial Appeal.
The response was so overwhelming that even in
the
midst
of election coverage, your letters made it
onto the
Op/Ed
page. They were representative of the dozens
that
were
sent to us. Your kind words and
encouragement have
been
extremely helpful to us.
To read more of the letters, which are now
posted along the right side of
our
website, just

letter in the
sequence.
Thank you!
