Visual aids add color to your classroom and inspire learning. Do your bulletin boards and walls need freshening? Try these tips: 1. Use the story pictures included in your resource pack wherever possible. Keep these and other posters or artwork at children's eye level. 2. Display the weekly story picture under a sign reading "Story of the Week" to help children focus on what they will be learning that day. 3. Display children's artwork as often as you can. 4. Look for magazine pictures that depict events or feelings similar to the quarter's theme, and display them when appropriate. 5. Try to add something new each week, and ask children if they can find what has changed! |
| Blessing our children |

Session 2 in this quarter's issue of Connect--the Gather 'Round Bible guide for parents and caregivers--is called "Jesus loves children." This session focuses on ways of welcoming and blessing the children in our lives. In one of the daily devotions, parents are asked to give thanks for the loving adults in their community who offer blessing to their own children. A supplementary article encourages parents to find new ways of communicating feelings of love and value to their children.

Each quarter, a new Talkabout offers children and parents a visual reminder of the stories they learn in Sunday school and a natural way to talk about faith. The Spring 2009 Talkabout is "The Good News Bus." Remind parents to take it home and place it somewhere they will see it often. In the coming weeks the Talkabout will guide families to read Bible scriptures, share stories and memories, play "I spy," and pray together.
