Nora Chahbazi and John Corcoran
Chicago Visit with John Corcoran
In September, Nora went to Chicago for 3 days to meet and work with John Corcoran, author of The Bridge to Literacy and The Teacher Who Couldn't Read. They had an opportunity to discuss the pending EBLI curriculum for The Teacher Who Couldn't Read, intended for secondary schools. They were able to plan and further refine their vision for championing effective reading instruction for learners of all ages. Nora was invited to several of John's scheduled events: an adult literacy conference, his keynote speech at the 25th anniversary gala for Literacy Connection, and a TV interview. Nora and John also had an opportunity to meet with Dr. Martin Fletcher, a PhD psychologist who is an expert in development of innovative cognitive and academic software and gaming products, to discuss ways to develop technological support for EBLI expansion.
