With a grateful heart....
Here we are, on the 3rd day of the new year, already sending two clients to job training. This fills my heart with
joy, knowing that two more families will be moving forward with their lives, able to rejoice with the rest of us, that you cared enough to be there for them.
Because of Austin Junior Forum and the $2,000 grant we received from them over Christmas, we are able to send Melanie and Valerie to their C.N.A. classes, as well as offer a new start to the next client who comes to us.
We are so blessed by the Austin Junior Forum and all they do for our clients. We are planning a mother/daughter tea in the spring. Now that will be fun!
Thank you so much for all you are doing to reach out to the community, making a huge difference! |

Greetings! A New Year... A New Beginning!!!
Have you ever thought to your self, "if I could just get another chance, I would...? Well our Lord is a Lord of second chances. We get to start our New Beginnings everyday. It is like celebrating a new year every time you wake up in the morning. The Son is there to greet you wherever you are. We can, if we choose, get up every morning with praise in our hearts, love in our actions, and march out into the world with the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It does take one thing to be able to do this. You have to believe with child-like faith. Christmas is the perfect season to rejoice in the birth of our Savior...a child who came to save the world. He calls us, who are believers, to arm ourselves with His word, own it, and use it as the precious gift it is, offering it to those who need to hear about a Savior who has come to rescue us, and to give us yet another chance to make it right.
Our clients are just like so many of us who so desperately need someone to reach out with a hand, a prayer, with Christ's love in their hearts, to help them find that precious gift, a second chance, a do-over!!!
We have had 52 clients who have received a chance to change their lives, and start a New Beginning! Wow!!! You made this possible, and we know there is no way you could have done it without the love and mercy that comes from Jesus! 52 lives have been changed; 52 families have been able to get out of bed with praise and thanksgivings in their hearts.
We, now, are starting to see it come full circle. Our clients who have moved on with their lives, have started paying it forward. Krystal and her family sent a $50 gift card for another mother in need. Her words were, "Please use this to brighten another mommy's day. We love y'all very much. Keep on doing the Lord's work. Love, the Hahn's."
We pray that you will join us as we continue doing the Lord's work. There is no greater gift then to be able to pay if forward. What the Lord has done for you, you too can do for someone else. Help them find the baby in the manger this Christmas season. The overwhelming joy that you receive will last a lifetime! Amen!
Many Blessings, Julie |

Christmas Blessings!
As you can imagine, we have several clients who are just barely getting by on a day-to-day basis. So, when the stores change seasons, and the first signs of Christmas start showing up in the stores, those who don't have, start dreaming of the Christmas they wish they could provide for their families.
I remember one Christmas having to make Christmas Ornaments for my children, and praying they would believe Santa was dropping off all their toys at Grandma's house. My parents were always so great about helping make Christmas a magical time of the year. What a blessing that was to have family there to cover up for our lack of funds for Christmas. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for being the best Santa's ever!
Now, some of our clients are just like I was, looking for ways to bring a little magic into the season, praying that Santa and Jesus still had a connection and somehow Christmas would magically show up on Christmas morning.
Then, there are the Santa's who really do work very close to Jesus, and the miracles of Christmas starts.
St. Julian of Norwich Episcopal Church had a friend of NBMM who asked for a few things for Janette and her son Angel for Christmas; well, that was all it took. This is what happened to that elf, Chris Pearson, when he went to get the items at St. Julian's.
I don't know why I continue to be amazed by God and his blessings. He has repeatedly surprised me with his goodness, mercy, grace, and love.... enough times that, while I don't want to become complacent about his ability to...well, to be God, I also should not be surprised too much when he is. He promises that when we respond to him, he will respond to us exponentially - and he does! I give this as the background for my report--I pulled all the St. Julian's donations for Janette and Angel together and this week I will give Janette $305 in gift cards and about 32 various books, toys, puzzles, etc. for her son, Angel.
I thought this project was just something I was doing, collecting things and handing them over - just a go-between helping out. But, of course, God is much brighter than I. As all these blessings lay in front of me, I could not help but think of those Christmases when my mother was a struggling single mom, and how much she (and we) would have been blessed by generosity such as this - by a ministry such as NBMM that connects the dots between helping out those in need and God's love. We had our own angels in those times, of course, but I am a bit ashamed to say that I never connected the dots between that help we received and God's love until, well, until now. I am, of course, a little slow on the uptake, but then I know God is okay with that. All that is to say that I am thankful to God for NBMM. I was reminded tonight that His ministry certainly touches the lives of those you help directly, the moms and the children, but the "ripple effect" is something that we will never fully appreciate -- and don't need to. All we need to know is that God is good!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank you, Chris for helping out with this family, and for you and your lovely wife, Annette, for the extra donation for another one of our clients. May the Lord do for you what you have done for others. Amen! |
