Greetings!
We can't wait for school to start! We have just a handful of families we haven't seen yet for Registration. Our PTO ice cream social is tonight from 4:00 - 6:00 and everyone at Washington is looking forward to meeting our new students and welcoming back our former students.
Wednesday is the first day of school. Our first day hours are 9:15 - 11:45. As always, students are expected to be in their seats by 9:15. If you are accompanying your child to school on that first day, plan to arrive a few minutes early. However, your child's teacher may not have a lot of time that first day to talk with you. They will be making certain that they have all of their students happily settled and beginning their new year in a new grade. You are welcome to join our PTO in the cafeteria for coffee, juice, and treats. Thursday will begin our normal hours: 9:15 - 3:15.
If you are planning on driving your child to school on the first day, please park in the parking lot or on West Street. Please do not block the emergency lane. The buses will park on Linden Street.
We hope that everyone has received this email successfully. We tried to input all names and email addresses correctly. If you have had any difficulties, please contact us by phone or email and we'll try to solve the problem. Mrs. Faber & Mrs. Hayes |
| Free and Reduced Lunch | Check it out at Registration
Each year, families have the opportunity to apply for Free or Reduced Lunch. Qualification is based on family income. You can apply online for free and reduced lunch.
If you think you may qualify, even if you're not sure, we urge you to apply. First, your family is entitled to this support. If you qualify, you are not required to take advantage of it. Your child can still enjoy homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches if that's what they like. However, you may find that this little extra boost makes a difference in your family's budget.
Second, it may ultimately help our school. Over the summer, you may have been reading about the district's Title 1 dispersements. These government dollars become available to schools based on their Free and Reduced Lunch enrollments. If we have students in need, we want to do everything we can to help them at Washington. |
