Moving Forward in 2011 . . . Our Unwavering Commitment to Excellence at the Maine Diner
It was a chart-topping year of incredible highs and one unexpected low at the Maine Diner in 2010.Together we shared in the thrill of a flurry of awards, embarked upon new ventures throughout the country, and celebrated all of these achievements wholeheartedly together as a team. Together, we also mourned the loss of Maine Diner co-owner, Myles Henry.
Myles would be proud to know that Dick Henry, Myles' brother and business partner of 28 years, is committed to move forward while also maintaining the high standards that our guests have become accustomed to. As a team, we understand what needs to be done to make 2011 even better! The most appropriate way to honor Myles is to keep the Diner at the top of its game and we are excited to do just that.
Here are some of the things that you can look forward to in 2011:
· Beginning February 1st we will be shipping our Seafood Chowder and Lobster Pie. If you can't get to the Diner, let us get the Diner to you!
· Adding a new menu item: The Myles Henry Downeast Benedict...the tastiest home-made codfish cakes made Benedict-style! This was one of his creations, and is one of the best breakfast entrees!
· Another new menu item: Old Fashioned Donut Muffins. These have only been available on weekends and have been a huge hit.
· Supporting the Myles Henry Scholarship Fund. Currently we are raffling off a signed Portland Pirates official game jersey. All proceeds are going to the Scholarship in Myles' honor.
· Cranking forth on our Facebook Fan Campaign! By year's end we had more than 5,100 Fans! Dick and Myles have become famous for creating milestones and celebrating them with giveaways. Stay tuned!
Join us in this new chapter of the Maine Diner as we move forward. As always, we are here to serve you with the best home-cooked meals, at the best prices, with the speediest and friendliest service around. As before, when you come to visit we will treat you like a guest in our own home. Some things will never change...

Gary Pike Day A Success!
| | Gary Pike Day |
Mascots from the Portland Pirates Ice Hockey Team and the Maine Red Claws Basketball Team joined us Wednesday, December 8, 2010 for our 14th Annual Gary Pike Day here at the Maine Diner. Together we raised $2,100!
All proceeds from food sales for the day at this annual event will once again be awarded to Gary's House, a hospitality home located at 97 State St. in Portland. This site offers housing to family members or individuals who have a loved one receiving medical treatment while fighting life-threatening illnesses at Mercy Hospital and the Maine Medical Center The Maine Diner continues to lend its support annually to this worthy charity.
Gary's House started as a brave young man's dream to develop a home to offer comfort to those sharing his experience. Pike was a courageous local Kennebunk boy who lost a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer in 1991. Through an outpouring of community support for him the Gary Pike Foundation -and hence the house- was born and developed in his honor.
The Maine Diner has supported the charity for 14 years, the past five teaming up with the Portland Pirates. The Diner further supports the charity by participating in the George Bush Cape Arundel Golf Classic, an event which has been held for more than 15 years.
