The Maine Diner Now Serving Food at "Greenside" at the Sanford Country Club The Maine Diner is serving its famous home-style food during the summer season at the Sanford Country Club on Route 4 in Sanford. Last year brothers Myles and Dick Henry, who opened their famous diner 26 years ago, ran a pilot "test season" at the golf course that was overseen and managed by General Manager Jim MacNeill, who is also a member there. The operation was so successful they decided to come back for the 2009 season. A casual pub-style menu (not the full Maine Diner menu) with a full-bar will be available daily from 11 a.m. until dusk through mid-October. Diners can eat at the club on the deck, or order food to go at (207) 324-9712.
A modified Maine Diner menu is posted at Hole #8. Golfers can pick up the phone when they tee off and order ahead for food and pick it up via their golf cart in minutes. Or other customers can likewise phone in or simply stop by. The restaurant is open to the public; you don't need to golf to eat there.
"Whether our customers meet us on Route 1 or Route 4 they can rest assured they will get a great tasting meal served up right when they away from home," Co-owner Myles Henry said. |
