Is your computer slow? Do you a have a computer that's 3 to 4 years old? You don't have to purchase a new computer to get a faster one. There are several ways to speed up your computer without the expense a new purchase.
The first thing to do is know that a computers life span is 4 to 5 years. Many companies will not warranty a computer or server after 5 years because the parts have a life span. That being said, you can get 6+ years out of your computer if you're not a power user. If you are a power user, get over it and buy a new PC. The first thing you want to be aware of are the programs that startup when you start your computer. Do you have HP printing software loading when you don't have that HP printer any more? The key is to un-install ALL unused programs that "startup" automatically when you load windows. You may need to expand the task bar to see what applications are being loaded - it's time consuming but worth your time to go through them one by one.
Another thing you need to look at is your computers RAM. Computers 4 years ago required less memory than today's computers. The applications are more complicated with more features. For example, you may have added a web cam, etc... It's not a difficult thing to do - open task manager and click on the performance tab - look at the "Commit Change" box and look at the "Peak" number. If the "Peak" number exceeds the amount of RAM you have you need more! Simple as that... You can run a simple memory scan to see what RAM you have and if you have any free slots with out opening up the case. Go to
www.crucial.com and run the memory scanner tool.
By doing these two simple things you can get the new computer feel without a lot of cash out of pocket.
